@DetectivEsse At least they look dynamic. The baxcalibur official art just makes baxcalibur look lame and stagnant

@SheepEtiquette @kzzrttt The biggest offender is grass and steel type. Grass type is for all plant based pokemon... so why specifically grass and not plant type? And steel type is given to all metallic pokemon, but steel is just a specific type of metal. Why is it not called metal type?

@kzzrttt Yeah I mean the whole thing boils down to the fact that a number of the names for the types are kinda silly. I'd actually say Normal is the biggest offender here, no other type has had as many discussions around it as to what the fuck being "normal" actually means

the issue with wind type as a concept for pokemon isn’t that it’s bad but it makes you realize how stupid it is to have made a flying type and not a wider encompassing wind type from the beginning

@solarkarii everyone brings up the fact that every pokemon is someone’s favorite. but no one wants to talk about how every pokemon is someone’s least favorite too

@VILKOV_ @LateIdiots @HarlequinCors @TiamatStan24 Why can't the region use the culture of the natives like alola did, or a similar gimmick as unova where it isn't specifically American culture but shows the diversity of many cultures due to the many immigrants who came to the US. Also the west coast just has lots of potential

The way I see it… the ones with no emoji are PEAK, the 😒 are meh, and the ❌ range from bad to repulsive. Overall, probably about half good and half bad. So I want to say I love them, but it’s kinda hit or miss.

@NowIsTurnipTime @DarkusLeonidas1 @Peko_girlboss Darumaka is a Pokémon often used for the new year, since is based on a daruma. in Pokémon Masters for exemple, the Poké Center have Darumakas as decurations for new year and have events where you have to defeat Darumakas. so, they are indeed tied to the new year-theme.

In rare cases,a 1st stage starter Pokémon could be based on a different animal or species than what its mid and final stages are. That’s not to say that all 3 stages won’t look alike & keep the same traits. But it’s something to keep in mind when trying to predict Gen10 starters.

Sometimes the animals that starters are based on aren’t heavily related to the types given to them. Meaning that Gen10 starters don’t necessarily have to be an animal related to their types. This is especially true of the fire types. What does a bunny have to do with fire? Sure there’s probably a small connection- But generally rabbits have nothing to do with fire- not enough to try to help predict a starter anyway. Like who would have guessed a fire rabbit. The types can just be an added dimension to the Pokémon’s design. “What would a cat be like if it had a grass type element” “Let’s put a plant on the back of a frog” This can all apply to any stage of the line too.but in some cases the final evolution justifies the typing-like with Infernape and Sun Wu Kong. I only said “sometimes”⬆️because many of the animals do properly correlate to their types, like Treecko kinda being a leaf tailed Gecko. Most water type starters are usually based on marine animals. And a lot of grass types also get a pass just because almost any land/sky animal can be said to live around grass and plants lol. All this to say- counting out certain animals just because they couldn’t possibly be a fire type, isn’t the most helpful when predicting starters.

For weeks I’ve been speculating on starters being based on animals from where the Gen10 region is based on… But the truth is,historically most starters don’t come from the nation of their region’s inspiration.& it’s especially hard to tell in their mostly generic 1st stages. Gen9 had a croc and a samba duck in Spain Gen8 had a monkey and a chameleon in England Gen7 had a tiger in Hawaii Gen6 had a Japanese ninja frog in France And then the older Gen starters were from all over the place. Gen 4 & 5’s had French and Chinese inspirations. Are their chimps in Hokkaido? With all that being said, modern gens do try to make a connection with each starter (and even almost every pokemon) to the nation of inspiration in some way, even if it’s small. Some of the animals they are based on DO actually live in their nation of inspiration. So who knows what Gen10 starters we’ll actually see. We just try to predict based on what little info we have(because it’s fun)… but they can actually be anything from anywhere lol.

@Red_Chopper @soulsilverart Considering that girafarig is now a pre-evolution, yes it makes sense for its neck to be short like a baby giraffe. Coballion isn't exactly based on a single animal, but it's most likely inspired from the markhor and different species of antelopes, and arceus is llama-esque

@Rand0mK1de @soulsilverart What else would you call them...? Girafarig is clearly not just a giraffe since its neck is too short.
