O’Neil Cruz belted a two-run homer in the 9th, his second longball of the night, to put things away. Will have to beat Paul Skenes to take the series Wednesday afternoon.

Thoughts from a season opening series win: 1. Great win. Boston is legit 2. This offense can be very good 3. Sal is unreal 4. Not really worried about Santillian 5. I am worried about Pagan 7. The team is deep (for the first time in years) 8. They can win the division

@dclarkOboro @KySportsRadio Exactly. I didn’t like the hire at all. Then I bought in because I like Pope so much and it’s clear he loves UK. But it’s not working and there is no reason to think it will.

@KySportsRadio Mark Pope ain’t the guy to lead Kentucky basketball. Unfortunately, we’re getting another year of mediocrity no matter what. My initial reaction when Pope got hired was anger but then I bought into the nostalgia. It’s clearly not working with no signs of getting better.

This second half is a pretty embarrassing way to end this season

It’s been a disaster of a season. Pope will get a pass due to injuries and a lame duck AD. I’d be STUNNED if he is fired. That being said he’s been HORRIBLE this year. I don’t think he’s the guy. I’d cut my losses now and make a call to Todd Golden before he lays roots in GVille
