If you want to see really funny Colbert, the Dana Carvey show is on Tubi. But this type of retro Up With People celebrity sing along has been a central part of his talk show from week one.
Jason Blakely@jasonwblakely

I admire Colbert's wit & I don't think he should have lost his show *but* elite liberals throwing themselves encomia parties with A-list celebrities as their form of symbolic resistance amounts to nothing politically & is part of what brought us to the current ideological impasse

Its funny that in Ted Turner's book "Call Me Ted", he isnt scared of settling scores or giving some receipts out, and there's not a single mention of Vince McMahon in the whole thing. Like he didnt give a fuck about small fry and a supposed feud was all in McMahon's head.

I built 81 different models in an attempt to isolate quarterback value and identify potential busts. Model No. 74 won. It's ability to spot hidden gems and red-flag busts is promising. Here's what we learned. neworleans.football/article/what-w… via @NofNetwork

@danielwreporter I'm reading this X post with my kids about you watching "The Sandlot" with your kids and just realized the America of this post, with irony and social media and posts about posts about watching "The Sandlot" is also almost extinct.

@davemeltzerWON Yeah, hence my argument that I think you can't rate guys like Bruno < Hogan without major thought. The guy drew regularly in many of the biggest markets in world on a repeated basis for two decades in a way Hogan categorically couldn't.

Bruno was very strong in the sense he could work 2-3 matches with the same opponent and work monthly and usually drew well if the TV was strong. Sometimes with weak TV he didn't draw. Hogan wasn't as good as Bruno with return matches nor did he work monthly as they found out in 1984 if he worked too often in the same market his numbers went down. SF area notable they booked him monthly trying (and succeeding) in winning the market from AWA, and was doing 10,000 early and fell to 2,500 for a match with Ventura (who was ill and missed the show, replaced by George Steele but Ventura not being there was never announced). So they used him less frequently and he drew much better.
Matthew Randazzo V@RandazzoTweets

@davemeltzerWON that and Bruno/Londos has consistent drawing power over a very long period of time without mult deadzones that Hogan had for one. Longson is another question altogether that I am not educated enough on.

For those who don't know: I was one of the first to document lucha libre at ringside. I have an unreleased archive from years ago, recorded way before the current "influencer" wave. Close-up footage captured from all perspectives.

He is the national hero in North Korea. They teach people in schools a complete fictitious story of his life though. In what they teach, pro wrestling was a shoot, nobody could beat him, and the Japanese murdered him because none of them could beat him. To this day he's used as a way to teach the populace to hate Japan.
CTESPN Hawkeyes@CTESPNhawkeyes

@davemeltzerWON North Koreans even teach the youth about Rikidozan

@davemeltzerWON Cool that wasn’t the point I was making. I was talking about Hogan and how in 63 years people will still be talking about him. Andre has been dead for 40 years, people are still doing documentaries on him, you really think people won’t still be doing documentaries on Hogan?

An April 2007 survey of the 100 most influential people in world history based on a poll of Japanese people. officialfan.proboards.com/thread/263701/… You will see Santo in polls of most popular Mexican native of all-time.
Mike@mikeyj2208

This is the dumbest take ever. I’m no Hogan but in the age of the internet and video, Hogan in 63 years will still be talked about. Andre has been dead for almost 40 years and people still talk about him and Hogan was bigger than Andre.

@Mikesyabud @davemeltzerWON you said "from Korea". That's not a country. The vast majority of South Koreans, don't know *many* escaped North Korean exiles. Apparently you are in a position to.

@davemeltzerWON also, again, treating Japan like a backwater when it was the 4th largest economy on earth in 1964 and the *2nd largest economy in the world* when Rikidozan's students were running it in the 1970s-1990s.

If Hulk Hogan had started pro wrestling in the U.S., and trained two other people who were listed among the top seven U.S. sports stars in the U.S. of the 1951-2000, had 40+ books written on him, so many documentaries I can't count them, was in polls in the U.S. listing him as among the top 10-25 most influential figures in history decades after his death in the U.S., had an arena named after him, then he'd be exactly the same as Rikidozan. Hogan was bigger worldwide. People in the U.S. can't conceive of other culture.
Jeff Haveson@JeffHavesonBK

@davemeltzerWON Rikidozan never traveled culturally the way Hogan did there's no Rikidozan merchandise in Brazil, no Rikidozan references in Hollywood, no Rikidozan on a cereal box in Germany. His legend stayed where it started.
