The year is the mid‑1990s, and most corporations rely on private internal networks and early web‑based “intranets.” These intranets let employees access internal data and services in a controlled environment, which is great for confidentiality and basic security. Some companies even connect their private networks to a few trusted partners to exchange data, but it is all heavily siloed.
At the same time, a global public network called the Internet is taking off. Anyone can use it to share information with the world, but early on, sending passwords or credit card details over the open Internet is risky because data can be intercepted.
To fix this, engineers deploy strong cryptography on top of the public network in the form of HTTPS, which encrypts web traffic end‑to‑end. Now people can safely buy and sell products online and exchange sensitive information over a shared, open network instead of maintaining dozens of isolated private links.
Over time, the encrypted public Internet becomes so reliable and cost‑effective that it replaces many uses of dedicated private networks. Companies still keep internal systems where it makes sense, but for most interactions a single secure, shared public network proves more powerful and flexible than a multiple separate private ones.
Just stating some historical facts.

Gustavo is on the way to figure out agentic identity
Gustavo Valverde@GustavoValverde
Finally shipped this demo in @ZentityID so machines can pay for services, even if they need to represent a real human. In summary: an agent requests access to a paid resource, the server says "pay me and prove you're human", and the agent presents a proof-of-human and pays.

Privacy and confidentiality aren't the only gems in the @zama ecosystem.
Ever heard of fheRand? It’s arguably one of the most secure randomness sources out there .. no more relying on traditional VRF.
I built this FHE Raffle for the February dev program to put that randomness to the test. I didn’t take home the win, but the tech is solid.
Check out the randomness in action: fherand.netlify.app

.@alexisthual is such a delight to speak with that completely extraordinary ideas feel almost whimsical.
On @JoinStateChange he shared how he's building a frontier LLM of the brain using raw MRI data. The future will be unrecognizable.

Today, we are announcing our biggest partnership to date: Zama will be the official confidentiality protocol for the @trex_network, a leading RWA protocol with over $100b of tokenized assets already committed by Apex Group.
I don't think people realize how massive RWAs are for blockchain. If you think stablecoins are huge, then RWAs are twice as big. This is THE big opportunity for blockchain to become the rails of global finance.
The issue however is that portfolio managers can't make their positions and strategies public. If they did, every trader on the planet would front-run them, making them lose billions as a consequence. Just ask any VC or whale how they feel being called out on social media when they move assets to an exchange. And now imagine someone managing 1000x more money. To put it simply: without privacy, finance won't move onchain.
The old way of solving this problem was to use private chains, at the cost of sacrificing public verifiability and composability. Private chains are like the Intranets of the 90s: closed, siloed systems that simply dont work well together.
Public blockchains on the other hand is like the Internet: a global network of publicly accessible applications and services interacting together seamlessly through common standards. And just like HTTPS made financial transactions possible on the Internet, Zama is making financial transactions possible on public blockchains.
The future of finance is onchain, and we will encrypt all of it with FHE.

POV
You did a batch payment on @zpayyapp for 20 addresses and your competitor is staring at encrypted amounts!!
Pay your employees on-chain where their payment amounts are all confidential and exist only between the employer and the employee!!
The future of confidential and private payments is now… and it is powered by @zama protocol on Ethereum!!

Blockscout now support ERC-7984 tokens! This means you can see confidential transactions just like you would regular one (minus the encrypted amounts obviously).
Integration with block explorers is an important part of making confidential tokens widely adopted. After all, the first thing we do when we pay someone is send them a link to the transaction on an explorer!
