Many reasons - but a couple off the top of my head: Access for retail - in many many countries, the process to get access to buying foreign equities (US included) is either extremely challenging or impossible. The ultimate inefficiency. For TradFi players - they are focused on capital efficiency - when you are transacting 9 figures, having a T+1 or T+2 settlement time is quite inefficient - your capital is locked while you wait for settlement (slight simplification). Instant settlement provided by tokenization changes the game.
