They want Trump to think what he's doing is popular. It's not. He won't listen to the honest criticism and change course if he thinks he has 100% positive polling. By doing this they know he will continue on the path of destruction. He will blame bots and the left for fake news and call it paid-for outrage. In reality, it's his real voters/supporters who aren't happy. This also effectively gives the illusion that the anti-war populist faction of Trump voters are a small minority which quiets their voices and their concerns which lessens their impact and reach.
How no one sees this baffles me. They've learned they can control him through flattery and praise. His ego is his weakness.
