@TheCraftyMaker I really hated that kind of comment. I mean, you wouldn't go to a baker, a bookstore owner, an electrician, to the theatre etc., and laugh when they tell you their pricing. But then, these kinds of people are also the ones that still spend thousands for other irrelevant stuff.

@TheCraftyMaker I wish I could've replied in a more direct way, but I'm way too polite. The problem is that the majority of people can't even imagine how much work there is behind the creation of a single artwork, both for modeling and then even 3D printing. (...)

Fellow artists, isn’t it incredibly disrespectful to receive a voice message laughing at the price after giving a quote for a commission? I don't know, but that laugh made it sound like: “So much money for this? Are you serious?” followed by “Sorry, no thanks, honey.” ⬇️

Okay, wait. I just realized that this might lead to a misunderstanding. I wrote the sentence incorrectly. It was a friend of my aunt's who asked for this commission, not my aunt.

@DreamStarter_1 Well, she had to answer to my message, but yeah, it would've been enough to just say "I see. Thanks for the info, but it's out of my budget" 😅 Simple as that.

@Randomizy3D Obviolsy I would never call a person to tell their price is too high...that's a bit exagerated😄

@DreamStarter_1 Customers have the right to refuse a price they find ridiculous, but they shouldn't react that way. I feel bad for the employees who have to deal with people like that every day. Anyway, it's fine. I just found it to be an unexpected way to respond to someone.

I have seen people do that at the store...it's within their rights to laugh at a price they find ridiculous...but again...it should not affect you,you should never take that personally. The reaction sais more about what they can afford or what they think somethign is worth,has nothing to do with you.

@DreamStarter_1 I mean, if I, Luisa, went to a store and asked how much something cost, I would NEVER laugh in someone's face just because I thought the price was high. I would just thank them and leave. It's not that hard to be respectful. Just that.

@DreamStarter_1 Haha I noticed after receiving a comment telling me that family doesn't count. I was like "Stupid Luisa! Never double-check before posting, huh?" I was so focused on fitting into the character limit that I forgot to mention that it was my aunt's friend, not my aunt 😅

How do you guys deal with situations like this as artists? How do you handle it when your work gets devalued like this, without letting it affect you that much?

I was tempted to say upfront that I don’t accept commissions, because it often feels like this kind of work isn’t taken seriously as a job here. Out of respect for my aunt, I still replied and sent the quote anyway. ⬇️

4 years since the lumity kiss

After taking a deep breath, I finally decided to focus on creating more human characters. I decided to start with one of my favorite characters, Luz Noceda from the amazing show The Owl House. Here's a WIP of how she's turning out. I really hope I don't mess her up.
