@MarkJCarney It was very obvious this was going to happen! We cancelled the retail Carbon tax! This is what happens when we stop paying the Carbon Tax, we need to take the Climate Crisis serious.

Extreme heat waves and record-breaking dry conditions are resulting in one of the most intense wildfire seasons in Canadian history. The fires are especially devastating in Northwestern Ontario, where more than 10 communities have already been evacuated.
In response to the devastating fires, Canada is taking an all-hands-on-deck approach.
More than 5,300 firefighting personnel have been deployed across the country. Nearly 300 aircraft are in the field — from waterbombers and helicopters to evacuation aircraft. We are leveraging data, drones, new technology, and advanced thermal imaging to support real-time detection and mitigation efforts.
On behalf of Canadians, I extend my gratitude to the first responders and volunteers who are on the frontlines. We will mobilise every resource needed to keep Canadians safe.

@RandyBoebandy @PickEmLegend @NightSkyToday This was the reply I was looking for, just another alcoholic, more than likely on a bender, trying to shame others while most likely smelling a week old bar rag left in a gym bag.

This represents a fundamental difference between the American mind and the Canadian mind.
A Canadian sees a difficult problem and thinks “damn, that sucks. Guess we’ve gotta live with this”. An American sees an difficult problem and thinks “better figure it out”

Pardon my language but how in the fuck would you like us to "manage" this in such a manner that would prevent large wildfires? Other than clear cutting the entire goddamn thing.

As a former waterbomber pilot who used to lead an aerial firefighting fleet, I can tell you “send help” is an extremely dishonest framing by the Canadian government.
The Canadian government routinely blocks U.S. firefighting companies from attacking fires in Canada, while aggressively sending their government-subsidized aircraft to the U.S. to earn commercial rates from the U.S. taxpayer. It’s big business for them and they run it like a Chinese protectionist racket.

@hostharjitgill Canada needs to repeal all these stupid kirpan laws and treat it for what it really is, open carry for Sikhs.
English

Canada is proudly multicultural. Many communities have cultural or traditional weapons, but the Kirpan is not a knife it is a sacred article of faith for baptized Sikhs, recognized and protected under Canadian law in many contexts. Before calling it a weapon or demanding bans, take the time to learn about Sikhism. Respect begins with understanding.

Do you think this qualifies as discrimination or is it a reasonable safety precaution for the gym?

All of these play a role yes - I think the Emerald Ash Borer less than the others.
Canadian (and liberal American) politicians love to blame this on Climate Change as a way to funnel money towards their preferred causes, PACs, etc. And that just isn't the case. Climate change IS real, and it plays a role. And some of that is even man-made. Not saying we can't or shouldn't do better on climate.
But this issue is 90+% mismanagement by the central Canadian authorities and the provincial governments. Common sense mitigation and prevention (including occasional clear cutting and controlled burns) are by far and away the most effective way to mitigate this issue. And if Canada could get its head out of its ass in regards to these techniques, we wouldn't be in this mess.
