@RyanQualtrics @utahmammoth @utahjazz Wait, how many nuclear bombs of heat does it produce everyday? Lol. Kidding. Go Jazz!
English

Today we announced a 60,000 SF sports performance center with Intermountain Health at the SEG sports campus right next to the @utahmammoth and @utahjazz practice facilities.
It’s a game changer. The first-of-its-kind campus will create a competitive advantage unlike anything in professional sports.

When the barriers to creating something get lower, more people do it. AI lowers barriers dramatically for creating a small business. So more people will do it. And that will create more jobs.
-How do I incorporate? AI explains how
-How do I get company benefits? AI explains how
-How do I pay corporate taxes? AI explains how
-How set up a company website? AI explains how
-How do I code this great app? AI helps code
-I need a privacy policy? AI will draft it
-I need terms of service? AI will draft it
Will all that nonsense made clear, I'm left with making a cool thing and hiring people to support it.
English

@Randysdavis @jmontforttx More what exactly? I’ve yet to hear that part explained.
English

The massive Utah data center, called the Stratos Project, will be as big as 2,000 Walmarts, will need 9GW of electricity to run, and will generate the heat equivalent of 23 atom bombs detonating every single day in Hansel Valley. The expected impact of wildlife is catastrophic.

@RBReich I hear that you’re a nice man. Glad to know that you’re good a something.
English

@chrisheatherly Also, if you knew that all of the entrenched powers would block you from improving the state, why would you try? You'd have to have FU money and a good lawyer to even survive trying.
English

@chrisheatherly Couldn't agree more. Why else is it called a state school?
English

My son had a was Valdedictorian of his high school, with perfect grades, very high SATs, and several award winning games under his belt. Got accepted to USC. Could not get admitted to a UC school. IMO, the UC system needs to stop taking out of state and foreign students until it can meet the educational needs of Californians.
Marc Porter Magee 🎓@marcportermagee
“The University of California, Berkeley had almost 6,500 students on its wait list last year. It ended up admitting none of them.”
English

@96f20P_JRoToole No, its saying the loud part out loud. People ask AI questions and use the answers for guidance --> behaviors follow. Woke AI is therefore dangerous and Commie AI is a catastrophe. Build in America and use constitutional freedom to push back on wokeness.
English

@96f20P_JRoToole @persisting2017 @jmontforttx I sympathize with may of your points. Nevertheless, change is upon us and steering it with constitutional freedom is better than submitting to the ChiComs.
English

1. Mega-corporations should never be given permission any more than government to steer human behavior. That can only be a disaster, as the last 50 years of the US Department of Education bears out.
2. Any true breakthroughs in medicine will be hoarded and hidden just like they have been for the last century. Shareholder primacy and corrupt humans rule the entire industry, and that will not change.
4. A.I. will destroy freedom of speech, even freedom of thought itself via implanted knowledge created by the programmers, who will be subordinate to the System™️.
3. The System™️ does not want educated, discerning people; it wants malleable consumers who never, ever think outside the box.
Meanwhile, A.I. is being used to undermine the artistry of humans in music, film, poetry, and literature (it's even already paraphrasing the Bible inaccurately), is slowly replacing entire professions, and has created a whole new genre of pornography.
Like I said, net negative.
Except for the owners, anyway.
English

@sltrib The future belongs to builder. There’s a place for headlines like this. It’s in that past.
English

“Even if the data center isn’t as dreadful as feared — or if it never is actually built — the stench attached to the rushed and secret political process will take a very long time to dissipate,” writes The Tribune's editorial board. “If it ever does.” sltrib.com/opinion/editor…
English

@_Manwe_ @jmontforttx What can AI help you build? You can make things more than livable.
English

@Randysdavis @jmontforttx No, they wouldn't allow their water to be stolen, their energy rates to skyrocket or their jobs to be decimated all so a handful of billionaires can make more at the expense of everyone else. They aren't building a livable world.
English

@_Manwe_ @jmontforttx They would build it and work there. And use it to build their own business.
English

@Randysdavis @jmontforttx So taking massively from the surrounding area, imposing shortages and higher rates on people that will be laid off because of the proliferation of AI. My grandparents would never have put up with this.
English

@_Manwe_ @jmontforttx Securing rights (done) and building delivery. You may have forgotten what it means. Just imagine what your grandparents would have done and do that. Build build build!
English

@_Manwe_ @jmontforttx There are no people in the area. And they will build power and water.
English

@Randysdavis @jmontforttx They don't have the power or water for this monstrosity. It's insane to cheerlead for something that will devastate the people in the area as profoundly as this inevitably will.
English

@SalK8409967382 @TravisLipski @jmontforttx If you think capitalism doesn’t create prosperity you’re not serious. Our poor have food, shelter, cars and thousand dollar phones.
English

@Randysdavis @TravisLipski @jmontforttx 94% of wealth generated from 1970s, aka the beginning of financial capitalism, went to the top 1%
English

@Jeannin55385803 @persisting2017 @jmontforttx You realize you can find an author to validate anything you choose to believe? I’ve observed that the last several massive advances in the world have moved things up and to the right. And this will too.
English

In the same way that algorithms can be manipulated to steer human behavior AI will be a source that people rely on to learn about right and wrong, truth and error. In the USA we have laws guaranteeing freedom of speech. China models won’t talk about Tiananman Square for example. Regarding benefits, there will be amazing breakthroughs in medicine. Incredible advances in education. Immediate language translation. Instant accounting. Instant legal compliance. Unprecedented and instant access to world knowledge. It will tear down access blockers between the haves and have nots. Poor stand to win big.
English

@Randysdavis @persisting2017 @jmontforttx If China did win the A.I. Cold War, how would that negatively affect us? What use of A.I. would cause the world to re-center on China instead of America?
So far, A.I. looks like a net negative, so I'm wondering.
English

@doris6230 @OhhLooksTasty @jmontforttx The idea that AI consumes a lot of water is false but it’s an idea that won’t go away. The cooling systems are a closed loop, like a car radiator. So there’s som upfront water but nothing that will affect the climate.
English

@OhhLooksTasty @Randysdavis @jmontforttx I live in Phoenix, and we have water issues as well, as you may know. Just came back from a weeklong trip in Kanab, and crossing the Colorado up in Page is just horrible, hardly any water in it.
English

@JayRuh2 @carol_nasvytis @jmontforttx I get this. We’ll have to fight this temptation. Which we can do if we win AI. But we can definitely not do if we lose to China.
English

@carol_nasvytis @Randysdavis @jmontforttx Let me add that the rapid construction of these data centers has a very sinister purpose and it has to do with human surveillance. They’ll soon be able to give social scores and determine if you are a threat to the system or a do like this poster.
English

@IDoDeclare83 @jmontforttx I agree that the transition will be scary. I believe that embracing it will bring positive change sooner. Impeding the transition will make the hard part longer.
English

@Randysdavis @jmontforttx Yeah Im more concerned with all of the layoffs in tech right now. They have 1 person in charge of the AI admin where they used to have 10 entry level people.
Its a little scary so far.
English

@persisting2017 @jmontforttx I like your vibe. I also won’t stand for social scores etc. But honestly, allowing China to win AI will guarantee it. If the USA builds it will win and freedom will be preserved.
English

@Randysdavis @jmontforttx It won't.
It will crush us.
As it is intended.

@JussiSo @TravisLipski @jmontforttx Corporate jobs have done more for the poor than any program can. Work elevates all of us.
English

@Randysdavis @TravisLipski @jmontforttx It just increases the power of the giant corporations. And lifting the poor is not in their intrests.
