2/ in reality, it was about destroying Alex Salmond AND destroying the SNP he'd built up, as a genuine force for independence. They succeeded in both counts. They being the U.K. state and unionists, including those still in the SNP who were part of the plot.

1/ The unionist media were the key plank in destroying Alex, the plot orchestrated by the top UK civil servant in Scotland, who *line managed* the Crown agent. It used senior people in an SNP that had just taken in Murray Foote. But it was inevitable they'd blame "the SNP".

People keep rewriting history about 2014. We were never “in touching distance”. Even with a franchise tilted heavily towards Yes, the biggest democratic turnout Scotland has ever seen, it still wasn’t close. And the reason wasn’t emotion or media or “fear”. It was the basics: no credible answers on currency, deficit or pensions. That’s where the whole project collapsed. Everything after that was just political theatre, managed by a leadership that kept the lights on long after the fundamentals were gone. Discuss.
