@Speckymate Here is my reading: black people have been forced to listen to dehumanizing language for a long time. There are people still alive who experienced Jim Crow. I get why they are upset. I don’t think a suspension is warranted, but I understand why even unintentional comments hurt.

@RapsReport Was a cultural misunderstanding which is unfortunate. Always good to apologise in such instances. The suspension tho is insult to our culture. The message it gives is American misinterpretation of Aus phrases triumphs over our language, that’s insulting and is a bad precedent.

I feel like racially insensitive comments are often downplayed by people with a political axe to grind.
With that said, “protected species” is apparently a common phrase in Australia, and importantly, it is used to describe white athletes just as much as any other group. (1/2)

@RapsReport Lol that has more to do with how terrible the players are than anything else. The moment Graves, Lundy and Bittle weren’t playing it was over. No one else on this summer league roster is an NBA player

I think this Summer League is a good proof of concept for the Raptors’ system. They don’t have the most talented roster (especially today), but they’ve been competitive or better in every game.

@RapsReport Oh wow that’s what they called? Shot wasn’t even close to up. Not gonna matter in the grand scheme of this game since the Nuggets are boat racing them but that’s horrible.

@RapsReport No but with cmb and graves they can get away with it more. Also martin would have made a huge difference and pushed everyone down one spot. Cmb would have murdered summer league

@RapsReport I actually think they have a very deep front court and team. There guards weren’t great but Lundy was very good. They might have had the best team if cmb and Martin play

@adultwhocares It’s a turnover if you have possession. When the shot goes up, it’s a loose ball foul, which leads to free throws. I didn’t notice if it was before or after the shot though.

@RapsReport Is there a different rule for offensive fouls counting toward bonus for free throws? Hoggard hadn’t even thought about shooting yet when Bandaogo got called for that foul. If you run through somebody in a tie game and the team on defense is in the bonus will they get free throws?
