The results are in, and a vast majority of you prefer our open firmware requirements. While this semi-official poll would not significantly influence our long-term goals, it's good to know we are working toward the kind of systems you all want to see. Thank you to all who voted!

Since this has come up a couple times, we'd like to ask if our hard-line open firmware stance is what you all would like to see, or if the P10 concerns are relegated to specific users. Let us know below!

Hey @RaptorCompSys - Can you tell me the value/size of the circled resistor on a Blackbird? I scraped it off while installing a card and need to replace it.

@RaptorCompSys Oh nice! Personally I hope there are some lower cost options as a result of this partnership so that more software can be ported/made portable for the architecture.

@RaptorCompSys I had heard about the silicon partnership you made recently. Are any of the CPUs/SoCs suitable for laptop or other portable use cases?

@RaptorCompSys We have an open source developer trying to port an open source operating system for your hardware but they found some odd behaviour in hw and didn't hear back anything since 3 months, could you please at least give us some advice or documentation? ticket [#433089]

@LukeDashjr We're aware, but BMC upgrades are significantly more involved, especially from a support perspective. It was deemed more practical to release the new PNOR earlier to address several known faults (GPU / XFS problems) in the skiroot kernel and other components.

@RaptorCompSys The BMC has an outstanding bug in the console-only ssh port... Due to switching to dropbear

We have released a firmware update for our Talos II and Blackbird product lines. This update adds new hardware support to the bootloader and fixes a rare checkstop bug on Talos II. Full changelog is available at wiki.raptorcs.com/wiki/Talos_II/… -- only the PNOR has been updated.

@kaitlynnac We have implemented a process change to better respond to requests such as yours for out of warranty and second hand systems. Please accept our apologies for the lack of communication in the interim!

@RaptorCompSys @phoronix Yes he left multiple voicemails. Could you email him back? It'd be better to have this conversation there instead of Twitter.

@RaptorCompSys @phoronix He called the 512 number and never got a response. He also emailed the sales as well as support at raptorcs.com and never got a response, the subject line was "RE: Broken BMC I need actual customer support"

@kaitlynnac @phoronix We will be looking into this matter immediately. What was the ticket number? We do receive a tremendous amount of Email spam, and legitimate mail does get overlooked from time to time. If there is ever a concern we recommend calling directly, 512 690 0240 for a speedy response!

@RaptorCompSys @phoronix Please respond to my husbands customer support ticket. He's really frustrated that he spent $3000+ on a computer and not getting any customer support at all.
