Here’s the cold reality: 🔹 China mines 70% of the world’s rare earths. 🔹 It refines 90% of global supply. 🔹 And now it’s tightening the screws, with new export licensing laws that control shipments of any product containing as little as 0.1% Chinese-origin rare earths. That means? Even if the U.S. sources minerals elsewhere, it’s still trapped by China’s refining tech, machinery and patents. So what’s Washington doing? 🔸 Buying stakes in risky mining startups. 🔸 Talking about “strategic reserves”. 🔸 Slapping on tariffs and subsidies. 🔸 Signing flashy deals, like the new “rare earth alliance” with Australia, to pretend there’s a Plan B.
