I have been nominated as an Emerging Scholar at the upcoming 2026 National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada! This is one of the highest honors for rising scholars in multicultural education and I am beyond humbled. I will be delivering a presentation on my research to some of the brightest multicultural education minds in the country. My research, especially my dissertation looks at how Black youths express civic identity and agency and how the curriculum is setting them up for civic life. It reveals how they are pushing back on Eurocentric civic education and the violence the curriculum perpetuates to silence those pushbacks.
