@WomenSurgeons @PMartinezMD @camila_guetter @ShanSLansing @Brianna59213847 @brittljohn @RASACS Surround yourself with a community of people who love you! Residency is hard and isolating at times, and my people keep me grounded through it all. Don’t lose sight of why you went into medicine!

@WomenSurgeons @PMartinezMD @camila_guetter @ShanSLansing @Brianna59213847 @brittljohn @RASACS Our program has a mentorship program for both faculty and peer mentors. But I always connected more with someone with similar research/career interests who “I wanted to be when I grew up” 😂 A chat over a cup of coffee can go a long way!

@WomenSurgeons @PMartinezMD @camila_guetter @ShanSLansing @Brianna59213847 @brittljohn @RASACS Agree with all of the above! I love #BTK and TrueLearn! I try to study along with the rotation I’m currently on using the textbook Clinical Scenarios in Surgery - very pertinent patient scenarios with a detailed workup/treatment plan explained. And ofc, learn from your patients!

English

@WomenSurgeons @PMartinezMD @camila_guetter @ShanSLansing @Brianna59213847 @brittljohn @RASACS I always schedule a “fun, non-surgical” thing every week that I would look forward to during the week, some activity where I felt like myself again (ie hobbies, hiking/exercise, seeing friends/family, exploring the city/trying a new restaurant)!

Q2. It’s easy to get busy and forget to take care of yourself as an intern. What are some tips on how to take care of your physical and mental health during residency? @PMartinezMD @camila_guetter @ShanSLansing @Brianna59213847 @brittljohn @Rashi2S @RASACS #AWSchat
English

@WomenSurgeons @PMartinezMD @camila_guetter @ShanSLansing @Brianna59213847 @brittljohn @RASACS this makes me 1) remember to check everyone labs so I can replete electrolytes 2) make sure every patient who needs labs has labs ordered for the next day and 3) every patient gets a daily note with a plan for that day. AND ALWAYS DO ORDERS FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE! (2/2)
English

@WomenSurgeons @PMartinezMD @camila_guetter @ShanSLansing @Brianna59213847 @brittljohn @RASACS I have the same set of checkboxes for each patient: { } note { } labs { } replete…(1/2)
