@SkagthePrince @Uratnik @Maliykus Crazy assertion. Glance at the footage.. very much has all the hallmarks of a fantasy medieval setting. (Except the trains, of course) & Btw, this isn't a D&D game.. but even then, the Forgotten Realms was a medieval setting too. So.. um... ?

@Raven0178 @Uratnik @Maliykus No it doesn't. It goes to great lengths to show a new fantasy setting that has nothing to do with the medieval period and everything to do with DnD 2.5 E setting that most Asian games are based on since the 80's when they were hired to make those games.

@Uratnik @Maliykus Yes.. and he showed footage from Crimson Desert, a game that goes to great lengths to show a medieval setting. What time periods do you think he was referring to here? This wasnt a philosophical question, he wants to know the game's story-reasoning behind it.

@Raven0178 @Maliykus That’s not what he asked. He showed footage of a horse running next to a train and asked why things from different eras were being mixed together.

@Uratnik @Maliykus He asked if there is any logic or story-reasoning for steam-powered trains existing in a medieval setting... So whats the answer, bud.

@mcsetty @foxygames_uk Sure but that speaks to the idea of creating new jobs/positions. Was just disagreeing with the notion that these corpos will move people around. We have ample evidence from the recent past that major publishers will lay off redundancies & brag to investors about the money saved

@Raven0178 @foxygames_uk I don't think it will. If AAA gaming is healthy they'll put people to work making games and use the labor wherever is most productive. The problem is that it isn't.

People who tell you that you shouldn't support DLSS 5 because the "games industry people will lose jobs to AI", don't seem to realize.. We're ALL going to lose our jobs to AI.

@mcsetty @foxygames_uk Well yeah, the gaming industry has been. (How many tens of thousands of layoffs are we up to?) Point is.. the AAA industry is ailing & AI is selling itself as the solution. But if AI is adopted the way the salesmen hope for, it'll accelerate & increase the layoffs.

@mcsetty @foxygames_uk .. and at the moment, the AAA industry is struggling because they increased too much in size. So budgets have ballooned & overall AAA sales are down. AI is being sold to them from other corporate salesman as a solution to their problems. So yea, 'redundancy' gets hit first.

@Raven0178 @foxygames_uk I'm not saying they will never lay people off, but we have more automation than ever in development and dev teams are larger than ever.

@joesocial001 @foxygames_uk 2/2: .. metaverses, NFTs, lootboxes, etc. were all promised to be the "future" & all faded in the end. In any goldrush, its not the people finding gold that get the richest.. but the people selling the idea of the goldrush & selling the shovels. AAA is gambling on an AI savior.

@Raven0178 @foxygames_uk You are correct but that still doesn’t change the fact dev times have gone from releasing a game a year to one every 5 years because demand for bigger and better has increased.

@joesocial001 @foxygames_uk 1/2: Sure but theres plenty of indie & AA games that are finding commercial/critical success too. Its the AAA industry thats in crisis right now (one of their own making, btw) but AI isnt going to fix that. AI is the latest trend & biggest goldrush.. but like 3dtvs, VR, ...

@mcsetty @foxygames_uk Nah, the publishers/corporations will instead choose to lay off the devs they deem redundant. (They never "move them around") Need an example? Look at the bloodbath of layoffs from the last 4 years. Corporate executives serve & impress the shareholders this way.

@foxygames_uk No we aren't. And games industry people aren't either. Automating one part of development or improving efficiency just results in re-allocating those developers on other things to improve the game.

@joesocial001 @foxygames_uk Its up to management & their corporate bosses to set reasonable dev timelines & properly scope a project. AI won't solve human error or restrain corporate execs from being greedy. Its not gonna speed up development time.. just have the suits salivating on who to lay off next.

I get what you’re saying and there definitely is that narrative going round but here’s the flip side of that. People keep demanding more and more games, always bigger and better, but devs keep saying it’s costing to much the dev cycle is too long. Sonys first party output has declined and they’ve always cited those things. What if the ai makes their jobs easier and faster.

@NEW1EP @LForeverblue @IGN Ya guys keep posting this meme.. & its so mind-numbingly moronic. No one was screaming about AI when it came to previous versions of DLSS.. cuz it worked behind the scenes to boost performance. But now its tryin to be GenAI & replace game art with low-grade slop.

Crimson Desert now has 94 scored reviews on Metacritic. I’d be very curious to know how many of those 94 actually completed the game which should be a bare minimum requirement for press to score a game. My guess is not 94.

@PaulTassi I'd say the story, setting, world-building & vibes/immersion for Skyrim was better than most. As for lead character? Well thats on you brah.. you gotta roleplay if you want your roleplaying character to be interesting.

@Fightincowboy God.. I know they won't be doing a demo cuz of the open-world nature of the game.. but just a demo on the combat would be great for me. Cuz honestly, I cant tell if i'm gonna vibe with the combat in this game or not.

@BlackBurai If your point is that humans fear or mistrust change.. then yes, thats true. But humans SHOULD mistrust the salesman/corporation from the get-go.. especially when they're trying to sell you a product. Not every new feature introduced.. is for our benefit, ya know.

The DLSS 5 hate is pretty silly. For one: You guys realize the letters mean Deep Learning Super Sampling. Like, it's been there from the beginning. And also: You can turn it off. Weird hill.
