Atomic settlement means a transaction either completes entirely or does not happen at all. On Canton, atomic settlement works across applications. Two separate apps, operated by different institutions, can settle a multi-party transaction as a single, indivisible operation. This is coordinated by the Global Synchronizer without requiring either party to trust the other or a central intermediary.
