In 2020, Lockdown was announced on 24th March due to uncertain Covid situation at that point in time. The market bottomed out the same day. Thereafter, Covid situation prevailed for almost 15-18 months but market kept on moving up in a volatile fashion. I think similar situation emerged in March 26 due to West Asia war. Market went down by 11% in a single month and made a sharp bottom on 30th March, thereafter it started moving up. It may take a few weeks/months to settle situation in terms of opening of opening up of Straits of Hormuz, normal supply of crude & gas, its derivatives, and so on. However, market factors in bad news at one go which happened in March 26. I think the direction of the market would be upward only but in a volatile fashion. Disclosure- CIO, SEBI registered PMS company vide reg. no. INP000005398.

NSE was created as the anti-thesis to the old broker-operated exchange structure. Its institutional ownership model was actually one of the biggest reforms in Indian capital markets. So the current shareholding trend cannot be viewed through the same lens as legacy broker-owned exchanges. Globally listed Exchange stocks are widely held by Institutional Investors as well. #NSE @NSEIndia

NSE Shock! Brokers’ Ownership Crashes to a 10-Year Low! Brokers and their companies now hold just 35.6% stake in India’s biggest stock exchange – National Stock Exchange (NSE). This is the lowest level in the last 10 years! In 2019, they owned more than 53%. Brokers are steadily reducing their ownership in the exchange.

Geopolitics is catching up with technicals. Breakdown in #USIran negotiations has reinforced existing market weakness. From a technical standpoint, #Nifty has confirmed a trendline breakdown with a retest in place. Bias remains negative, with 20,300 as the next key support zone.
