West Bengal is the economic spine of eastern India. It has Kolkata - India's 3rd largest city. Has Haldia port. Proximity to South East Asian trade routes. On paper, Bengal should be the Singapore of South Asia's east. Instead, it exports its youth to Surat, Pune, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai. The communist legacy that TMC inherited & amplified after ousting the Left Front is keeping the eastern region a laggard. For Eastern India to rise, Bengal must fall.
