35yr old Lakesha from Chicago was taking care of her boyfriend's 2yr old daughter while he was in jail. She had arranged with the mother of the child to meet up at a gas station for her court ordered visitations. Instead of meeting up at the gas station, the child's mother showed up at Lakesha's house with a friend, and they jumped her when she opened the door. Lakesha had a gun; she says that she is licensed to carry. Her gun went off during the altercation and the child's mother was shot, she survived the injury. Lakesha was recently found guilty of several firearm-charges, including aggravated battery with a firearm. Lakesha claimed that she acted in self-defense during an ambush, prosecutors argued she shot another woman during a confrontation. Her sentencing is scheduled for May2026.
