@AlzeinMhmd @UHhospitals Our protocol stipulates 90 days of washout. This particular patient was a bit longer, closer to 4 months by the time she was listed. Other programs (@MayoTransplant) have transplanted patients <90 days with close post op management/monitoring for severe rejection.

2025 was a year of growth for @UHhospitals Transplant Institute, reaching a new record high of 74 liver transplants completed. This included a successful tansplant for a patient with #HCC who was downstaged after receiving immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy.

Olezarsen resulted in ~50–70% placebo-adjusted TG lowering in severe hypertriglyceridemia and an ~85% relative reduction in pancreatitis events. Potential side effects: LFT elevations, thrombocytopenia, and increased hepatic fat on MRI. nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

@md_myer @DrHarryDOesHep @yuvalpatelMD @AASLDtweets @BlaneyMD I am in endoscopy 1.5 days a week. One of the half days I work with fellows and do complex/Gi bleeding cases. The teaching is fun and variety keeps things interesting, I think! I do think I will wean off later on.

Can spleen stiffness measurement help to detect portal hypertension? A very important paper just published in @LancetGastroHep shows that, in combination with liver stiffness, platelets & BMI, it predicts the presence of clinically significant portal hypertension. PMID: 39326431
