F*CK Your Selective “Activism” 90 million Iranians have been living through a complete internet blackout for the past two weeks; a reality no one seems willing to talk about, and one that endangers human lives because civilians cannot access evacuation information or safety alerts. Iranians cannot receive evacuation warnings, coordinate with family, or even verify rumors about what is happening around them. Shutting off the internet and silencing civilians, journalists, and activists is not a new strategy. Censorship, propaganda, and narrative control — even on an international scale — are core tactics of the Islamic Republic. The current wave of internet blackouts and disruptions to international calls comes immediately after a massacre that took place in December and January. Since January 8th, 2026, authorities in Iran have repeatedly cut off access to the global internet to suppress nationwide protests and prevent information from leaving the country. Monitoring organizations like NetBlocks report that national connectivity has dropped to as low as 1% of normal levels, effectively isolating the population from the outside world. Analysts estimate that Iran has already spent roughly one-third of 2026 offline due to repeated shutdowns. Even worse, while most Iranians are cut off from the internet, authorities allow selected loyal accounts and networks to remain online to amplify regime messaging, creating a distorted narrative about what is actually happening inside the country. While Iranians are being silenced, many self-proclaimed human rights activists abroad remain quiet. They speak endlessly about “peace” and “anti-war” narratives, yet ignore the reality that the entity still arresting, shooting, torturing, and executing Iranian civilians is the regime itself. While they pretend to care about Iranian lives, they either stupidly or deliberately fail to acknowledge that the only entity purposefully endangering and killing Iranian civilians is the regime in Iran. In fact, while many Iranians have openly asked for humanitarian assistance in the form of targeted strikes against regime infrastructure, most “activists” have done nothing but hypocritically silence the voices that should be amplified now more than ever. While the IDF and the US government publish warnings about areas civilians should avoid, the regime, which disguises military bases as ordinary homes inside civilian neighborhoods and uses people as human shields, has done everything in its power to ensure that this information never reaches the people living there. Hardly any activist or human rights organization talks about the fact that disrupting the flow of information could be fatal. No one mentions that while regime officials hide underground, Iranians have no shelters and receive no alerts about incoming attacks. Being silenced by a brutal government is bad enough. But to add insult to injury, various groups have talked over us, ignored us, and attacked us. I want to address these wannabe activists, who have never spent a single day living under totalitarian Islamists, righteous influencers who have turned human rights into viral trends they can pick and choose from, as if human suffering were just another social media aesthetic. I’m talking to the privileged “anti-Western” and “anti-imperialism” know-it-alls who have not lived a single second under a regime as brutal as the Islamic Republic, yet believe they know better than Iranians what we need and how we feel. I don’t see you talking about 90 million civilians being suppressed, oppressed, silenced, and endangered. In fact, you are as silent now as you were in December and January, when the regime was massacring protesters demanding freedom from a regime that has taken their homeland, their future, and their dreams hostage. Iranians have spoken openly about their experiences. Yet instead of listening, you dismiss them or try to silence them because their voices do not fit your politically convenient narrative. While we speak about our demands, you speak over us — as if you are superior to us — a mindset disturbingly close to the very supremacist thinking you claim to oppose. It is hysterically tragic how you choose to support the ideology and narratives of our murderers while pretending to be pro-human rights. Contrary to what you believe, Iranians are not confused about what they are facing, they are not confused about who is responsible for their plight, and they do not need privileged outsiders to explain our own suffering to us. You truly have no clue about Iran, Iranians, our experiences, and how this regime uses internet blackouts to silently kill us. Given that we are not only being silenced and censored by the Islamic Republic, but also by the international community, it is now more than ever the responsibility of those capable of providing Iranians with the infrastructure and technology to connect to the internet to come to their aid. Please amplify the voices of Iranians. Please mention and tag accounts that may be able to help Iranians reconnect.

Being an anti-regime Iranian in the diaspora is a wild ride. First, the moment you speak up you basically say goodbye to ever going back home. Then come the threats, from the regime and its supporters everywhere. Then the harassment from leftists and progressives explaining to you how your lived reality wasn’t real, that you’re a paid agent, or that you just “want to be white.” And just when you think the circus is complete, some far-right Nazi punches you or calls you a “Jew” like it’s an insult. All of this because you dared to speak for people inside Iran who are living under internet blackouts while a regime points guns at them, ready to slaughter them if they step out of line. #InternetBlackout

Unlike your privileged, spoiled ass, I actually lived in Iran under the Islamic Republic. My everyday life was shaped by the Supreme Leader and the brutal regime he runs. You will never understand the feeling of seeing the man who helped destroy your life finally gone. You only read about it. I lived it. So sit this one out, kid. You have no idea what it means to live under people who rule your country while treating your life as disposable. You have never experienced oppression, you little brat. You just love to cosplay it.. And that is our difference.

@HanifFreeIran UM IRANIAN HERE AND NO THANK YOU!! You’re killing your career by supporting Maryam Rajavi.. NO ONE inside Iran supports the MEK. They are responsible for killing many Iranians. Yet western politicians are pushing it? Trade one dictator for one in a dress? NOPE!
Siavash Safavi@SedSia

Why are former western politicians and influencers suddenly back MEK/NCRI even though Iranians inside the country clearly declared Reza Pahlavi as their transition leader? Follow the money:

For those with prejudice towards MEK's women with hijab, here's a powerful reminder from Maryam Rajavi: “When Khomeini’s forces beat Iran's women for refusing the compulsory veil, MEK’s veiled women stood up to defend the unveiled” The price they paid for the freedom of others ✊

True. Many Iranians had reached such a level of desperation that they called for outside intervention. If the regime is not defeated this time, it risks becoming another North Korea, isolated from the world, heavily militarized, prepared to carry out mass repression, and determined to expand its nuclear capabilities. It must be defeated responsibly, with the utmost care to minimize harm to civilians and to preserve the possibility of rebuilding and recovery afterward.

Iran is not a monolith. Like any society, its people hold diverse views. Some are cheering and celebrating that the United States and Israel have struck the regime’s top oppressors and command centers. Others are mourning, terrified, and witnessing their skies filled with smoke and fire, with critical infrastructure, fuel hubs, water desalination plants, and other essential systems, destroyed. For many, this invasion brings hope for liberation for others fear of civil war, instability, and further devastation, a looming power vacuum. I stand somewhere in the middle. Iran has long been a country under immense suffering: a population slaughtered, women erased under a system of gender apartheid, ethnic and religious minorities persecuted for their culture and beliefs, human rights defenders and lawyers jailed for speaking truth, water scarcity and heavy air pollution, and an economy in collapse where basic needs are unmet due to corruption, mismanagement, and the diversion of billions to terrorist proxies. Something had to give; change was inevitable and it would not have come through “diplomacy” alone. The regime and the IRGC, lacking legitimacy but heavily militarized and deeply entrenched, would never have stepped down voluntarily. Ideologically committed to the Islamic Revolution and financially invested in maintaining their wealth, they needed to be removed by force, otherwise tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, more could have been slaughtered or executed inside Iran. Their nuclear ambitions also posed a global threat, particularly to Israel and the United States, who they have targeted and have chanted death to for 47 years. The United States, Israel, and other G7 partners must help complete this operation, but with extreme caution. Strikes should target the regime directly, sparing civilian infrastructure. Destroy too much, and the country risks becoming a failed state, a disaster for Iran and the world alike. It is a very careful calculation.
