Interested in the concept and here’s why: I’ve long been saying set pieces, corners, free kicks, etc., need a shot clock or a time limit because it’s becoming excessive now. Teams taking 1:30/2 min to blast a corner out for a goal kick, etc. wastes valuable game time. Time wasting on throw-ins and faking injuries has long been a part of the game, but what if we could curb that or continue to find ways to force players into action? I don’t like the unpredictability of time, especially from a TV perspective because that hurts us from a broadcast window, sponsorship, commercial standpoint, etc. — but games can no longer be talked about as 90 minutes. Stoppage time is frequently in the 6+ range every half now and so coaches think about games being 100+ minutes and using 5 subs. Not sure of the exact implementation and how it works, but I like the idea of trying something. Hey— who knows; maybe one day we’ll see the 35-yard shootout back 😬😬😬

NEW: MLS has had preliminary discussions with IFAB about potentially trialing the use of a stopped clock during matches, a potentially fundamental, massive change to the laws of the game. I have more on the Guardian, w/@MattHughesMedia: theguardian.com/football/2026/…

Beyond terrible look on GCP. They suspended a bunch of prod accounts... automated. No warning. Including that of Railway: an infra company spending $20M+ per year on the platform. Two years ago they deleted the prod account of a $100B+ fund. How can a serious company do this?

The Trail Blazers have laid off a significant number of business-side employees as part of a reorganization under new owner Tom Dundon. Dundon has been criticized for cost-cutting measures since buying the team, including not bringing two-way players on playoff road trips. spr.ly/6011B8B3zc

He just flipped his grilled cheese. The first side is golden, crisp, and perfect. Now, send him a text message to distract him for a few moments. Perfect, now the other side is charcoal.
