@LazyNick5 when i talk about a diegetic undertale player i don't mean that frisk is a blank slate that lacks any agency, but rather that the game clearly alludes to our presence in its metanarrative and acknowledges our involvement, even if it's not as heavyhanded like deltarune

The 1st post of this thread has a misleading wording but this part is literally so true. You CAN have a diegetic Undertale player interpretation without taking away the protag's agency that they are hammered in to have and same can be said for Kris to a big extent

@rosietheworldd gerson can't exist if kris or noelle or kriselle made the fountain, he was dessriels teacher not theirs, which also makes more sense for dess knight theory because it's the only fountain we know for certain the knight made and also is completely tonally different to the others

I don't know why we would need to dwell on this, it's treated as a joke in the scene because we don't need to know any more than what Ralsei explains. Those who are paying attention already know that we as the player are interacting with the characters through the UI

@Cuneyt_S_Sevi I think theres still something there, ch1 plays it straight as a non-diagetic tutorial that Kris' Magic stat wont effect ACTs. Which turns more longing in the later chapters where all their friends and family get cool magic in DWs, once again othering them even in this escapism

Monsters in the LW seemingly being unable to use magic really harms the effectiveness of Kris subplot about them not beşng able to cast magic, it really does feel like a leftover from a time in development when Deltarune's world worked much more like Undertale's

@theriverdraws I honestly think part of it is how long deltarune has been going for, and people have grown up with the game. Have to wonder how much of the savior complex is just feeling paternal/maternal over them and wanting to take care of them, instead of viewing them as a peer.

I think a criticism for deltarune people will have by the end is that our relationship with Kris will never be what people are wanting?
I think it's all leading up to us working together with Kris and understanding them, but people really have a savior complex about it dsijfnsd.

Cuz technically the “he can be killed in another route he can’t be integral to another chapter without drastically changing it” cuz the WR literally skips this specific next chapter entirely so that problem is negated

@Madam_Riddles With our healer now confirmed knowing fire magic, and strong possibility of a Hospital dark world (even if its short) theres a chance that since the proper weird route is over now that ch6 will kind of "converge" the branching paths to allow berdley adventures again (im coping)

Isn't it weird how Susie is so concerned that anyone finds about the dark worlds that she still won't tell Berdly about them after chapter 5, but they literally fight MewMew who is a lightner, and she doesn't even acknowledge it??

I don't think we'll have a battle in the LW. We don't have healing items in the LW, and to get them we'd need monster food, which doesn't seem to exist in DR
We could make Kris heal with magic, but Kris can't use magic, and it's implied that they're incapable of doing so

I don't think the Deltarune fandom is mentally prepared for the moment we get a Light World battle against Susie maybe right before the Roaring begins. The Undertale battle UI appears, and the music kicks in with a reprise of VS Susie mixed with Battle Against a True Hero or Hammer of Justice or probably both. I could totally see the track being called Battle Against a Real Hero or even Battle Against THE Hero. I also imagine a second Susie fight borrowing mechanics and attacks from Gerson and Undyne the Undying. It would be very very interesting to see what an Undertale style battle from modern Toby Fox would look like. Vs. @fortnitebussy1 I think its fair to point out, that psychologically, its easier to stand aside and let something bad happen than it is to do something directly bad yourself. Which I think is a fair assessment on what Kris allows as part of the scheme vs visibly and openly disliking

if you want to attack they slash them on being a Dumb Twist i kind of understand that. because it's superfluous and changes nothing. but i feel like "kris would never do that, they have scruples" is a weird angle. they orchestrated their dad's kidnapping It gets to a point

@cumma_bummer @estrodiol It's more about the confirmation that our red player soul isnt kris' and we replaced theirs completely. This opens up the idea that their og soul is out there somewhere which can have story implications and the like

i have no skin in this game but kris's default armor in chapter 1 is the bandage & that's the healing item that the patience soul uses in omega flowey fight
