Since a few of you are asking here are the facts: Filming wrapped in Italy, but the release dates were delayed. Part One is slated for May 6, 2027, and Part Two will debut on May 25, 2028 It will focus on the spiritual and supernatural events spanning the three days between the Crucifixion and Easter Sunday, extending to the 40 days following the Resurrection. Part One: The Harrowing of Hell: Covers the three days between death and resurrection. It explores theological concepts like Jesus descending to Sheol (Abraham's Bosom) and the fall of the angels. Gibson has described the script for this portion as an "acid trip" due to its otherworldly, supernatural nature. Part Two: The Resurrection: Follows the literal resurrection and the 40 days of miraculous encounters. It depicts the triumph of light over darkness and explores the stirring beginnings of the early Church. Jim Caviezel returns as Jesus Christ, with digital de-aging techniques used to make the timeline consistent with the 2004 original.
