Close Men’s Central Jail means close Men’s Central Jail, yet the County is now launching a search for an executive director to lead the closure, continuing to funnel sorely needed dollars for services into personnel and bureaucracy.

While the LA County Board of Supervisors and County CEO debate and discuss the long overdue closure of Men’s Central Jail, there’s a stark reality we’re faced with each day:

Last year LA County spent more than $150 MILLION settling cases of sheriff misconduct and negligence—while critical Care First investments for our communities get a fraction of that. It’s time to reimagine our budget priorities.
