I have lived here in York for more than thirty years and I am astonished at the things the wonderful team at Explore are bringing to York this Autumn. Find out about the incredible range of things coming this Autumn. Makes you realise how wonderful the Explore libraries are!!!

We have been really impressed with the books which include popular characters such as Peppa Pig and some of the best children's authors and illustrators. The cost is £2.05 per child per month! Perhaps we could start a sponsorship scheme to reach targeted children here in York!

Every month, my little grandson gets a book from the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Each month, my grandson receives a high quality, age appropriate book in the post, free of charge. He will receive books until he is five.

5. Give… Do something nice for a friend, or a stranger. Thank someone. Smile. Volunteer your time. Join a community group. Look out, as well as in and create connections with the people around you.

4. Keep learning… Try something new. Rediscover an old interest. Sign up for that course. Take on a different responsibility. Learn to play an instrument or how to cook your favourite or a different food. Set a challenge you will enjoy achieving.

3. Take notice… Be curious. Be aware of and catch sight of the joy and wonder in the world. Remark on the unusual. Notice the changing seasons. Enjoy the moment, whether you are walking, eating lunch or simply talking to friends and colleagues.

2. Be active… Go for a walk or a run. Step outside. Cycle. Play a game. Garden. Dance. Exercising releases endorphins which make you feel good. Make sure that you discover a physical activity you enjoy and that suits you.
