There's a slight chance #mets gave Slater the MLB contract on condition that he accept an outright, likely with an unofficial agreement to release him later from the minors if unlikely to recall him. Given that he hasn't reported yet, I highly doubt that he must/will do that.

A little surprised that #mets outrighted Slater instead of releasing him. I guess the club is holding onto the possibility of re-signing him soon and bringing him back to the bigs if there's another injury. (Release basically forbids returning someone to the roster for 30 days.)

My guess is #mets trade for Elias Diaz an hour or two after tomorrow's game, so that no 40-man roster spot has to be opened while he hasn't yet arrived and he has time to join on Monday.
