The earth itself is many millions of years old. 2. Second Earth Age (current flesh/probation age) • Begins with the renewal and re-creation described in Genesis 1:3 onward — not the original creation of the planet itself, but a restoration after the overthrow (katabole). • Souls now enter flesh bodies through natural birth (“born of water” — amniotic fluid; see John 3). • Adamic man (descendants of Adam) has only existed for approximately 6,000 years. The traces of Adamic man can be followed back only about that 6,000-year period. • This age serves as a time of testing and redemption. The elect stood with God during the first age and were chosen “before the foundation [overthrow] of the world” (Ephesians 1:4; Romans 8). • Satan remains active as the deceiver in this probationary age. • The age will end with the return of Christ and the beginning of the Millennium. 3. Third Earth Age (eternal age of the new heaven and new earth) • Follows the final judgment and the complete destruction of evil (2 Peter 3:10–13; Revelation 21). • Righteousness dwells forever; there will be no more sea (symbol of chaos), and God will be all in all.

Hmmm... So God sent Jesus here to die for our sins, but we still need to pray and ask forgiveness for our sins? Why didn't he just kill the devil and do away with the problem?

You still ask because relationship requires response, not just a transaction. And the problem isn’t just “the devil out there”—it’s sin in us. Removing Satan wouldn’t remove human choice, pride, or rebellion. That’s why Christ deals with the root, not just the symptom. And Scripture says the devil will be dealt with—just not on our timeline (Revelation 20:10).
