Funny how football changes in a few weeks. At the start of the window, City, Spurs and Madrid were throwing money around and some United fans were screaming that INEOS weren’t serious because they refused to pay inflated fees for players like Elliot Anderson, Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and others. Some of us said walk away if the price doesn’t make sense. Fast forward… United have landed Karl Darlow, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for less than what some clubs wanted for a single midfielder. That’s how smart clubs are rebuilt. He isn’t a “marquee” signing, but at £35m he’s an absolute bargain. Credit to INEOS for pulling this one off. The only concern now is that United still need legs in midfield, so INEOS have to deliver one more player with a very specific profile.
