If Bruno Fernandes played under Alex Ferguson, he would have won a lot of premier leagues, no doubt and his status would have been even higher. If Roy keane played in the post Fergie Era and with VAR, he would be trophyless and would get at least 3 red cards per season with the way he played football. I’m watching people try to justify Roy Keane constantly going after Bruno Fernandes and it’s embarrassing. Bruno just broke the all-time Premier League assist record. A record built over decades. Past countless world-class players. And Keane’s response is that Bruno “shouldn’t celebrate it”? Why not? He’s the record holder now. That deserves respect. That deserves celebration. Keane won 17 trophies here. Nobody denies that. He was a great captain. But there’s also a reason Ferguson kicked him out of the club. Bad behaviour. Toxic attitude. Constant negativity. You cannot keep disrespecting the current Manchester United captain and expect fans to stay quiet. We support Manchester United first. Not ex-players living off old medals and podcast clips. This is Bruno’s era. And we will back him. And at this point, I genuinely wouldn’t even be surprised if one day Keane and some of the Class of ’92 sit on their podcasts and start tearing into Ferguson too after he’s gone. I don't know about Roy Keane but Bruno Fernandes is 10x the player Gary Neville ever was. It's just sad that he came to a struggling united side. And Neville was lucky to play for that long because of his "class of 92" quota. If it wasn't for Sir Alex he would've been a legend at West Ham not Manchester United. The whole thing with Keane's post just feels exhausting. Bruno Fernandes has just won PL Player of the Season, and broke the single-season assist record with 21, surpassing Henry and De Bruyne. He's been the one consistent performer in a team that's been all over the place. Then he does an interview this morning where he says,
"WHAT I DON'T LIKE IS WHEN PEOPLE LIE ABOUT THINGS, AND IN THIS CASE, WHAT YOU SAID ABOUT ROY KEANE, BASICALLY, WHAT HE SAID IS A LIE." Then Keane responds with a donkey meme. That's not critique, that's public antagonism.
The bigger issue isn't whether Bruno should be held accountable. It's the pattern. You never see Liverpool legends dropping cryptic insults about Salah or Isak on Instagram. You don't see Arsenal ex-players calling Saka or Odegaard a "donkey" the morning after a good game. Chelsea legends like Terry or Drogba stay quiet or supportive while the current squad is still dropping unacceptable results.
At United, our own former captains are often the loudest, most personal critics of our current players, and they do it publicly. That creates a circus the other Big 6 clubs don't have to manage.
Bruno isn't asking for blind praise. He called out what he believes was a lie from Keane, and he's earned the right to speak because he's actually delivered on the pitch.
Posting a meme instead just undermines the player who's carrying the team and hands rival fans the exact narrative we should be trying to shut down. Support the captain while he's wearing the armband.

Keane calling Bruno a donkey on social media stinks of immaturity but best of all, is ill thought out.
There’s a reason farmers use donkeys to guard their flock and not lions! Lions would eat the sheep. They prey on the weak and vulnerable, using their power and size to hunt their prey.
Donkeys are calm BUT will guard and protect when they need to. Perhaps braver than a lion in that despite not being physically intimidating, they stand up to coyotes and wolves to protect themselves and the flock.
They are loyal and dependable and are known to stay with the injured, protect their children and wait for their people. Lastly, donkeys are known to be intelligent and self-aware.
So in many senses, they share the great qualities of our Portuguese magnífico: Calm but brave, faithful, protective and clever.
