Why did Iroh save Aang here even though they weren’t even on good terms yet?
At that point, Zuko was still actively hunting Aang, Team Avatar still viewed Iroh as part of the enemy, and there was no real trust between them yet.
But the moment Aang was in danger, Iroh stepped in without hesitation.
Was it because Iroh already understood who Aang truly was beyond the war… or because deep down, he had already started separating himself from the Fire Nation’s ideology?

People forget that Iroh met the dragons, lost his son, saw the cost of war….by the time he met Aang, he was already done fighting for the Fire Nation’s ideology and he only set out with Zuko to find the Avatar to keep Zuko alive, guide him and slowly pull him away from Ozai’s ideology.
