i did not watch the video, but i agree with Mel. Content creators can absolutely be snakes. There was this one, i thought she was kinda nice. started defending stellar blade and creative expression, thought maybe she actually wanted to stand up against censorship. no, turns out she was just the same censorial snake as the people we were fighting against. Even had the audacity to say CENSORSHIP NEEDS TO HAPPEN if it hurts her eyes. this woman never once explains her position, punishment, enforcement, but she certainly cried censorship needed to happen! When questioned, she just chose the "youre a godless faggot" route (hyperbole but she loves that word) and carried on, because muh quirky chungus.

First, I hate to be the one to break this to you, but we are all “monkeys,” dancing for someone. Whether you’re employed or self employed, you answer to someone. That’s life. There’s no such thing as a free lunch. Saba is not exempt from this. Second, what are “actual fans”? I think anyone who has given their time or resources qualifies as a fan. I also don’t believe that diminishes, because you question how you’re treated. I’m going to break some more news to you. Those, like the person in that viral tweet, are fans that actually care. The fact that they are voicing their feelings about it suggests that. Just because you don’t agree with it, doesn’t make it less valid. I’ve seen you suggest to others in this thread, to just “unsubscribe.” If you actually care about Saba, you don’t want that. That would be the worse case scenario. The people who complain still care. So, there’s a chance they can be brought back. The ones that close their wallets & walk out of the room, without saying anything have fully detached themselves from her. They are done & aren’t coming back. They don’t even care enough to complain. Instead of white knighting for someone, who has clearly made this a pattern, why not ask more from who you support? A little courtesy to those who support you isn’t a big ask. It’s the bare minimum. Attempting to shame people who ask for this just makes for a toxic community. Their feelings are valid. I have no love or hate for Saba. I don’t watch her, so she doesn’t owe people like me anything. She does owe those who have given their time & money to her, an explanation. That is, assuming that she has any respect or appreciation for what they do for her. It’s wouldn’t require much. A simple statement would suffice. Most would emphasize with her & be fine with it. She isn’t entitled to support. That’s earned. Everyone will have to decide for themselves, if she has done that. It’s their money & time.

The entitlement here is wild lol Just a reminder: subs and SC are tips, you send it to reward and thank the content creator for the entertainment. It’s not a salary or a PPV bill. The streamer has zero obligation to you. You pay because you want to, not because you’re their boss. And also here is a radical thought, but hear me out: you can literally just stop sending money. These people are SO annoying 😑

First, I don’t believe this is an attempt to “shame” her. This person has indicated they have supported her for a while, going back to her PL. Clearly, they are working through some inner conflict about this. On one hand, they want to continue to support her because they have for a while. On the other hand, logic would suggest this isn’t worth it because they aren’t getting any value for the service they are paying for. Second, she absolutely owes them something. It’s a wild take to suggest otherwise. These are people who are parting ways with their money, to support her. She owes them value for that. At minimum, she owes them an explanation. It’s just common courtesy to people who go out of their way to support you. My guess is, had she done that, most would be empathetic towards her & this wouldn’t even be a topic of discussion. People have a right to express their feelings about whether or not they’re getting value for what they’re paying for. It’s their money. We wouldn’t apply your logic to any other service in life. Her having past health issues doesn’t negate her responsibilities to her members. They’re owed some kind of explanation. Otherwise, just close memberships, until you can actually provide value for it.

Wrong. Subs aren’t a “tip.” It’s a service, that renews monthly. That sub can be tiered based but it consists of perks that are exclusive to that service. That includes emotes, access to members only post or discord, as well as members only streams. If there is no content being produced, you are getting no value from that subscription. This wouldn’t be acceptable in any other sub service out there. You would likely cancel, until it provided you value again.

Don’t know about a “hot take”, but definitely an obtuse take. Parasocial relationships extend to everything, not just streamers. If I go see a band I like & buy merch later, that’s parasocial. If I go see my favorite sports player & buy their jersey, parasocial. Obviously, there are extremes of this, that are unhealthy. This, however, isn’t one of them. This person is questioning, whether or not to continue supporting a content creator, who isn’t making content. Clearly, they want to continue to support them, but they’re having a difficult time justifying it. Especially when said streamer doesn’t update their community, their customers, on what is going on. They provide nothing. This person has every right to question that. It’s their hard earned money. No streamer is entitled to support. That should be earned. It would be one thing, if she kept everyone, especially paying members, informed of what was going on. She wouldn’t need to provide details, just basic info. That would at least show a level of respect & appreciation to those who actively support her. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable request. After all, these people are going out of their way to support her. They don’t have to. I see nothing unreasonable about what this person is rationalizing. It’s fair.
