As an Athletic Director, you better learn quickly that if you don’t understand your school’s foundation is academics, you will constantly face internal struggles with teachers and other administrators. At the same time, the best schools also understand that athletics is the front porch of the school. It is often the first thing prospective families see and experience. When schools intentionally invest in both academics and athletics, everyone benefits. Strong academics build the mission of the school, while strong athletic programs build community, school pride, visibility, and relationships that extend far beyond the playing field. The schools that truly excel are the ones that stop viewing academics and athletics as competing priorities and instead recognize that they are partners in creating an exceptional student experience. Great schools don’t choose one over the other. They commit to both.

As your impact gets louder, nobody can hear their opinions. You don't defeat your detractors by arguing with them, you build something so massively impactful that they disappear in its shadow. Because there's no greater waste of time than seeking validation from people living a life you wouldn't trade for anyways.

He also shoots over a double team which leaves us with a rebounding numbers advantage. There are multiple ways to be a double team and that is one of them. OG going to rebound was a key factor instead of saying it is a bad shot

This Jalen shot is getting a lot of criticism. Here’s why I like it: 1. It’s our best guy in rhythm, with confidence. If we lose and he took the last shot on a clean look, it’s hard to second-guess. 2. Time and score. Down 1 with 5 seconds left your only chance for 2 scoring opportunities is a quick shot. He sees daylight and pulls. If he dribbles into a tough, contested jumper there is no second opportunity and it’s a lower percentage look. 3. The Double Team. He drew 2 and pulled before they got to him. It leaves the rebounding situation at a 4-3 Knicks advantage. But even more than that… 4. Wemby’s Positioning. Brunson has Wemby all the way outside the arc and makes him irrelevant for the rebound. The 4-3 rebounding advantage becomes even bigger when your only size is out guarding the smallest guy on the court. It’s all about percentages and opportunities. Brunson takes a clean look (albeit deep) 3, stepping into it - I like that shot. More importantly, he takes it with 4 seconds left, leaving enough time for a second shot if they can get a rebound or a tip. Boosting their percentage of success is the double team involving Wemby outside the arc, leaving the Spurs undermanned and undersized when OG comes flying through the lane uncontested. Go Knicks.

A great job by Jose of following the game plan of tagging Wemby’s cuts! It looks like he just stepped in front to take away his run and he used his body to be a light pole which is legal in my book.

This is great b/c it's actually a perfect example of how Knicks get away with extra physicality all the time. Alvarado stops, loads and shoulder checks Wemby. Wemby doesn't flop & matches the physicality. There are more parallels between NYK & OKC than anyone wants to admit.
