@apendygraft he had a big serve, but don't think it was close to 40 percent aces
English

@RealManSports Didn’t Pete Sampras have a stretch like that? Maybe I’m misremembering, I was just a kid.
English

One thing I never understood about tennis is why someone hasn't come along and served aces at like a 40 percent rate. It's not that hard to hit an ace, and every serve is the same shot, like a free throw, or an unguarded three-pointer. Like just practice hitting aces until you can make them at a high rate, like Steph Curry hitting threes (and he does it with guys guarding him.)
English

@MeetTheNewBot to an extent, but if you rip one in the corner of the box, it's an ace
English

@RealManSports Aces are also subject to the player receiving serve. The simple reason why is no matter how much one practices it, the variability of the physical action /skill of the opponent make something like that impossible. Maybe one day a 7'4" athlete will take up tennis and I'm wrong.
English

@MeetTheNewBot Hitting depends on the pitcher, you can't practice Paul Skenes. Serving is like shooting threes, you can practice as much as you like. No one believed players could hit threes at this rate either.
English

@RealManSports Right, of course, but what's their ace percentage? 10-15%?
Even at 20%, you fail 4 of 5 times. Hard.
I get it. But it's a bit like saying why doesn't this .300 hitter just practice day and night and be a .400 hitter. There are exponential steps.
English

@RealManSports "It's not that hard to hit an ace."
It's very hard.
English

@stacker_sports Yeah, maybe, but still. Curry hits threes from everywhere, on the move, with guys in his face.
English

@RealManSports You do have the variance of court types, side of the court you are serving to, whether you are aiming for the centre line or wide. serve type, and quality of opponent's return. I think it is more similar to a pitcher throwing to different quadrants of the plate than a free throw.

Bam Adebayo broke math. His 83-point game was 8.5 standard deviations above his career average (or ~1 in 53 quadrillion) Based on career avgs, its like: Patrick Mahomes passing for 915 yards Justin Verlander throwing 214 pitches in a start Wilt Chamberlain grabbing 79 rebounds
English

Real man had Graham's Number to 1 on over 83.5
Real Man Sports@RealManSports
anyone else throw a buck down on Adebayo over 82.5 at 100 trillion to 1?

@Alan_Seslowsky girl I know was a waitress at a steakhouse, told me one guy said, "Just take the chill off of it."

This is a 1 in a trillion black swan event. Under 82.5 points for Adebayo would have seemed like the biggest lock in history. There is no way to categorize this.
Legion Hoops@LegionHoops
Bam Adebayo just had a once-in-a-lifetime 83 freaking points. Wow.

What is the world coming to?
I actually liked a @Chris_Liss team?!?
His rankings were AI-generated, so can’t really give him TOO much credit.
Anyways, I’m Team 3 in this “Beat Chris Liss” league. Should I name the team “Nutless Monkeys”? A @RealManSports would…
