Mercedes-Benz is introducing steer-by-wire steering technology as an option in its refreshed EQS sedan. Traditional mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and front wheels is replaced by electronic sensors and actuators. This allows for: • Quicker variable steering ratio • 170 degrees lock-to-lock • 4-wheel steering (up to 10 degrees in the rear) • Smaller yoke steering wheel • Much tighter turning radius Cybertruck proved steer-by-wire is the future. Many more companies will start to integrate it.

I normally pay around 2200 euro for a round trip Belgium-China, business seat. Because of Trump; invading a country, without any plan; the whole world needs to suffer.

@jan_dekkers You need to take into consideration that NIO has broken record after record of swapping during the holidays and they didn't give it for free like before it will be a huge boost to revenue. Not even mentioning McLaren paying NIO for it's technology

𝗡𝗜𝗢 𝗤𝟭 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗡𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 $𝟯𝟮𝗠 If you follow electric vehicle (EV) companies, you have probably seen headlines about $NIO's growing sales. But what investors really care about is simple: Is #NIO making money? Let us start there. 𝟭. 𝗡𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 (𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀) After all costs, NIO’s profitability depends on how much it spends operating the business. Three scenarios: Bull Case (Lower Spending) Gross Profit: $832 million Operating Expenses: $700 million Net Profit: +$132 million Base Case (Expected Spending) Gross Profit: $832 million Operating Expenses: $800 million Net Profit: +$32 million Bear Case (Higher Spending) Gross Profit: $832 million Operating Expenses: $900 million Net Profit: -$68 million Net Profit Summary Bull ($700M OpEx): +$132 million profit Base ($800M OpEx): +$32 million profit Bear ($900M OpEx): -$68 million loss So the conclusion is clear: NIO is on the edge of profitability, and OpEx control is the deciding factor. 𝟮. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺: 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 Before net profit, we need to look at gross profit. After paying for materials, labor, and factory costs, NIO generated: Total Gross Profit: $832 million - Gross Margin: approximately 18.7 percent By segment: ES8: 20 percent → $626 million Other NIO Models: 17 percent → $123 million ONVO Brand: 15 percent* → $59 million FIREFLY Brand: 12 percent* → $24 million ONVO and FIREFLY margins are estimates based on company long-term targets. 𝟯. 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 To understand gross profit, we start with revenue. Average selling prices: - ES8: $68,500 - Other NIO Models: $48,000 - ONVO Brand: $29,000 - FIREFLY Brand: $18,000 Gross Sales (Total Revenue): $4.45 billion 𝟰. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 Everything starts with deliveries. In Q1 2026, NIO delivered: 83,465 vehicles across its three brands: NIO, ONVO, and FIREFLY. (See image for details) Investors will be watching closely when NIO reports official results. 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆: 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗡𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 Deliveries and Revenue Total Deliveries: 83,465 vehicles - Gross Sales: $4.45 billion - Gross Profit: $832 million - Gross Margin: approximately 18.7 percent Net Profit Scenarios - Bull ($700M OpEx): +$132 million profit - Base ($800M OpEx): +$32 million profit - Bear ($900M OpEx): -$68 million loss 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 Based on our estimates: ES8 continues to dominate as NIO's profit engine Total gross profit of $832 million gives NIO room to cover operating costs Whether NIO reports a profit or loss depends on OpEx control The Base Case suggests a modest profit, a positive sign for NIO's path toward consistent profitability. Disclaimer: This analysis is based on estimated delivery figures, publicly available pricing, and assumed margins. Actual results may differ when NIO reports official financial statements.
