Policy makers continue treating markets as the problem rather than the solution. They impose price controls during shortages (creating more shortages), restrict food exports during domestic abundance (reducing incentives to produce surpluses), and subsidize inefficient agricultural practices (misallocating resources away from actual food production). The next time someone claims markets fail to feed people, remind them that every major famine occurred when governments replaced market allocation with political allocation.
