@bruderSkin Thank you, but I'm not necessarily apologizing for being gay. More so, the topics I'm now talking about are almost purely about being gay, which is a slight deviation from where I started: my personal journey of recently coming out just last year and random thoughts.

Either way, I want you to know, Ryan, even though I’m totally and completely straight, I still both straight and gay accounts because I know that our sexual preferences are literally the only difference between us. Otherwise, we’re totally alike and can get along well.

@RealRynix That's my main fear, that I'll be treated differently. Not even in a worse way, but just different from what it is now. I'm happy for you though. You can get on with your life now and i think you'll do quite well

@JacobheadJh Yep, it just came to a point where I needed to do it no matter what, and I’m absolutely happy that nothing has changed in my relationship with my parents. They still love me as their son, and they treat me the same as they did before.

@RealRynix At some point you just have to prioritize yourself and your happiness. At 28, enough is enough. Either they accept it or they don't. You'll live a life of misery with this massive weight on your shoulders otherwise. It's all over now though

@JacobheadJh like I let obvious signs right in front of me signal that, at bare minimum, they would still love me, but I ignored them thinking it wasn't entirely true.

@JacobheadJh Yeah, and the thing is, he hasn’t really been in ministry for nearly a decade, but because of all the past stuff, it made it anxiety inducing even when it flat out didn’t need to be. And it came bubbling up last year on March 30th, I came out to my parents, and both accepted me.

I had followed a lot of gay accounts, though, just ‘cause.
I’m following a lot again on this new account of mine, also just ‘cause.
Hopefully, that wasn’t what caused what happened to me.

@mattashburn Yep, I've seen and been told that many were starting to shift their efforts toward trans issues, among other things.

@RealRynix 20 years ago, that’s exactly what we were fighting for in the gay pride movement— to be treated equally. Once gay marriage was approved a big shift occurred, seemingly as if the large advocacy orgs were seeking a reason to continue existence.

@JacobheadJh But probably the main reason, especially through childhood and early teens, was that I kept thinking the attraction would just go away eventually. I read stories from parents saying their kids “grew out of it,” and I think a lot of that was cope, both from them and from me.

@JacobheadJh My dad was a pastor. I never really knew his full opinions on it, but I didn't want to risk him possibly getting fired or looked down on by the congregation just for having a gay kid. That kind of thing can end careers, and I carried that fear for a long time.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but male and female are SEXES. Gender was another term created for the prudish.
Humans cannot, and never will be able to, change their sex/gender.
Gender = sex. Always has been.
