@KhodyCRSU Absolutely, most of the time my process is along the lines of 'Oh I think I'll try drawing an X character' and my hind brain will immediately respond with 'Say no more, here's five pages of background containing world building information and at least four other new characters'.

There is no “obligation” though to join this war. NATO is a defensive alliance. The attacks on Iran were a war of choice by the US and Israel. NATO rallied to help the US following the 9/11 terror attacks, following Article 5 being enacted (an attack on one is an attack on all). No such article has been - nor will be - deployed for this fight in the Middle East.
