@Real_Ed_McCray Oh no, a guard would take you separately to one of those construction site outhouses that were usually close by somewhere. We picked up trash on the side of the roads. One of my friends drove by once and honked. 🤣She took a picture of that too - wench. LOL

@Rumblebunn99 @Real_Ed_McCray Yep! Every day was exciting in Tent City, particularly when it stormed and we still had to go out and work. They gave us plastic rain covers that didn't work and work boots that weren't waterproof. We did get hot chocolate though afterwards.

I was reminded this morning of the fact that I once did a short stint inside Sheriff Arpaio's Tent City in AZ. Nothing serious, no life of crime, just being a stupid young adult. Tent City was an experience. I worked on a chain gang too. 🤣 My life of crime in pink underwear.

It's crazy how there are people who don't like that this is true documented history so they're trying to revise that it happened or the circumstances around it. You can't just slip bold content like this past publishers & they print it because it's the center of the story.

Did you know that Sabrina the Teenage Witch was originally a Christian comic?In the 1960's sitcoms like The Munsters and Bewitched used monsters & witches as an allegory for minorities since many democrat controlled areas of America were under jim crow laws.

Even many of the people who create things no longer read. A few generations ago even the people who did cartoons & comics were well read in the classics. Today the people working in those fields aren't & miss the references.

People don’t really read fiction anymore and that is a problem; another problem, however, is that among the dwindling population of people who do read, there is a sizeable contingent who seem not to understand what books are for

@Real_Ed_McCray The Addams Family were particularly immigrant coded, when brought to TV. It was signaled with various family extended members with heavy accents, Old World imagery inherent to the spooky tropes, the parents trying to cukturally blend in without loosing touch with their roots etc
