@Jemeelahh_ You're right.
As you grow, you become wise and marriage isn't meant for the wise.

I was house hunting recently and I had to speak with more than four house agents at the same time. I needed to move my things from my hostel and also keep my Ẹrù ìyàwó props where they could be well monitored. Some clients are very careless with handling.
One thing I noticed was that these agents were posting the same houses. Whenever I saw one I thought I could manage and wanted to pay for it, the agent would tell me to hold on so he could reach out to the direct agent. The next thing I would hear was
“Aunty, ẹ ma binu. It’s gone.”
Not once. Not twice.
At a point, I became very desperate because someone had already paid for the room I was living in and his rent had started counting.
My cousin was always helping me check the houses in my absence.
One evening, I told someone I was house hunting and he said there was a room and parlour self-contained in his area. He spoke with the landlord and gave me the man’s number. I called him and explained everything I do and what I plan to become, and he didn’t seem to have an issue with it.
He gave me an appointment for 11am the following day, but I told him I would be making my hair around that time, so he asked me to come by 7am instead. I called my cousin and he said he would leave his place immediately after Fajr so we could meet up on time.
We met Baba, he opened the room for us and we checked it. The rooms were not too spacious and the rent was expensive, but at that point, I didn’t mind.
The landlord looked troublesome because he kept giving many rules. He even said he didn’t want visitors because his soakaway was small and would fill up quickly. He said the people monitoring his house would report me if I was always coming in with different men.
My cousin kept assuring him that aside from clients that would be coming to rent Ẹrù ìyàwó props, I don’t keep friends around. That was one of the reasons he followed me, so the man would know I’m responsible.
We went back outside and Baba gave the key to one woman selling cement in one of the shops in front of the house. She asked who wanted to rent the house and my cousin pointed at me.
Mummy just flared up and said I could not live in the house as a single lady. As we were talking A, mummy was talking Z.
I told her, “Please, this is my last hope. I already lost the zeal to continue searching for houses.”
Mummy said no because I wasn't married.
My cousin approached the man and asked him to reduce the rent so we could manage the rent and caution fee. Baba had already agreed, but he said the woman had to give consent first.
No, they are not married. They are not related by blood or water, obviously they just warm each other’s bed.
We had to beg mummy. My cousin kept reassuring her but she still said no. We left there disappointed.
The same guy then said there was another house close to the main road. We got there and met the landlady, but she disguised and we had to wait for the agent.
You would think we had known each other before. Everyone laughed and talked about many things. My stature and marital status didn’t matter to them.
The house is beside a tarred road, very close to the main road. The rooms are the same size as the first house, but this one has an extra room. It's cheaper than the first one and it has a spacious compound. Four occupants and two of them use theirs as offices.
It took me back to Samuel 9vs3. The landlord was David in the Bible, the woman was Ziba, and I was Mephibosheth. It didn’t matter how the woman tried to discourage the landlord from giving me the house. If the house was meant for me, nothing would have stopped it.
I realized something from this whole house hunting experience and it's that every disappointment is truly a blessing.
If that first woman had agreed immediately, I would have taken that house with expensive rent, small rooms, too many rules, no visitors, monitoring my movement, and living in fear
I would have thought I was lucky, not knowing I was actually settling.

Having evening walk and saw estate kids playing football at the park.
They rushed me as the uncle that sometimes joined them.
Decided to join the side that was 2-0 down and promised to help them equalize.
Scored 4 goals for them but the opponents scored 6.
Left them at 8-4.
Continued my walk.
