i just got scammed in web2. there was an artist signing for Mitsuhiro Arita in Malaysia, the legend behind the OG @PokemonTCG charizard and venusaur cards. i paid top dollar to a 3rd party company (tcgKL) to take my childhood charizard and venusaur cards there to get signed. turns out they probably hired random people to queue, and now they’re telling me the “runner” walked off with my cards. tcgKL is offering to refund me and replace them with “similar condition” cards, but no amount of money replaces childhood memories. maybe i’m overthinking it, maybe not. for all i know, the vendor pocketed my near mint cards themselves. either way, i got rekt. lesson learnt. trust no one. this is why digital collectibles > physical collectibles.
