To Coach Cal’s point, High Point is a mid-major in the metrics. Not in the money.
I’ve called numerous games at High Point. It is a gated campus with a country club vibe. Its on-campus facility is a mini-NBA arena, unmatched at their level, and better than many in the power conferences.
The investment in the program allows them to mitigate churn by retaining some talent and replenishing the rest.

@stevemagness Pre 1985ish travel teams, or select teams, had the very best players and as such had to travel to find competition. Then parents who thought their kid should be on select team (even when they were good enough) created their own teams which led to current state of travel ball

Can someone explain why some 10 year old needs to travel hundreds of miles for competition that they almost certainly could have found locally?
Travel leagues for youth sports should be banned.

The scariest thing about investing isn’t bear markets.
It’s “lost decades.”
For the 16yrs thru 1981 and the 13yrs thru 2012, the US stock market had no real returns. Cumulative, including dividends. Thats an average of almost a decade and a half.
A portfolio can survive a bad year or two. Not a bad decade or two.
Fortunately the answer is simple: Small Cap Value.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.
I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.
It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.

A senior demanding 50-60k a year in Social Security, and deluxe Medicare advantage plans that cover gym classes and country club memberships, and refusing to pay the same property taxes as everyone else, as we head to bankruptcy, is more shameful than any poor person on welfare.

They’re the same people, Russ. The person who takes social security at 70 for $5000 a month (after paying 12.4% on >$100K salaries for 50 years) is not the “moocher.” People who are taking close to the minimum in Social Security benefits at age 62 are people who worked very little from 16-62 and paid very little in taxes while collecting SNAP UI SDI SSI EITC et al.
