@JessicaSpara I had a GP call me a good girl (over the phone) for popping a safeguarding in for a patient, definitely did not expect/want that 😂

Today: one patient (mid 80s) said she wanted to be like me when she grew up (re: my tattoos etc); one GP referred to us as “heroes” for our thorough concern for welfare checking (inc climbing a fence); one patient criticised us for “turning up in the dark”. 🤷🏼‍♀️

@ParaAndy90 I personally don’t mind change, as long as it’s a change for good. Not just one that saves money or isn’t well explained

Not actually doing the work, at the coalface, who really understand the problems. If paramedics are consulted and heavily involved in the process, I think this would help get more people involved in the change. Use those with the experience and get tangible results

A certain group of paramedics are resistant to change, which is the same in every industry. There are a huge group of dedicated paramedics open to new ideas and ways of working Personally, I think paramedics don't like change because it's perceived to come from those

@itstrawby98 @DisabledDoctor I’ve found Bodyform do good ones, but normally have to pay more and go for the organic cotton ones (I mostly use reusable but know it’s not for everyone)

Scented products are a disability rights issue. Before you light that candle, do your laundry with scented detergent, or spray perfume, ask yourself: Who else will breathe this in? For many, scent is a barrier. Fragrance (even essential oils!) means volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which can trigger a cascade of chemical reactions with indoor air. Scents can trigger migraines, asthma, MCAS, and more. Access starts with awareness. Please be mindful of your scent.

12 years ago I completed my CFR training, tomorrow makes 4 years as a Paramedic and it's over 10 years since starting as an EMT! Still the best job going, with the best people 🚑 @NWAmbulance

@NJL_Blancq At my old uni, we wore maroon and grey, totally different to the trust, I didn’t mind it, yes we stood out, but it made us recognisable as students. Only downside was no decent coat, had a soft shell, our waterproof was the Hiviz

As an external student paramedic I felt like part of the trust. I experienced the same risks and stresses, contributed to service provision, even had a contract and email address. External education, but working within. So why not recognise that and support us with trust uniform?

@docchai2022 @harmolee @hartman_bill Third world? I'm in the UK and we get the TB vaccine jab as teenagers and it does work.

The CDC is not allowed to comment on the tuberculosis outbreak in Kansas. The word must get out, however. Most of the world is vaccinated against TB, but the US is not. We are vulnerable and this is a real threat.

@ParaAndy90 @TheLeeMcLaren We get management ride outs every 6 months or so, making sure that we do have reviews, whilst doing the ride out, also get an appraisal and looks over our figures

@TheLeeMcLaren I've always wondered why we have no performance reviews. Quarterly, 6 monthly etc. Most workplaces have some sort of review

The NHS Long Term Workforce Plan wants to increase Paramedic workforce by 14,200 - 15,600 over the next 15 yrs. But with poor retention of current paramedics & Practice Educators already at full capacity I don’t know how this mammoth task will be achieved. Quantity or Quality?

@TheLeeMcLaren @loddyy24 I understand spaces, but not 100% sure All of them who are wanting to stay in the area are having to go private.

@TheLeeMcLaren @loddyy24 My current trust has told 3rd years that graduate in April, there is no current jobs for them

@loddyy24 I don’t believe this is the case for ambulance trusts. The paramedic profession is becoming so diverse now paramedics are being recruited in so many different areas of healthcare, but there is an epidemic of record high sickness and erosion of staff within the ambulance service.
