Feeling all kind of furious & frustrated - PG students from Uni of Amsterdam whom we invited to @UofGPsychology to build research collaborations & share practice have been denied visas by UK - Both embarrassing & horrifying to have students treated this way @scotgov @TESScotland

@AnnaGlarin Mendeley for storing and highlighting, scrivener for annotated bibliography so I can line it up with chapter writing. I have a manually typed index folder (A-Z) in Scrivener too to help referencing.

PhD students, what are your best methods for referencing/note taking while reading? I need to work out a system... #phdchat #phdlife

@naomicog @ReadTheSyllabus Of course, I agree. But often the over emphasis on independent learning can tip to student (and staff) disengagement

@MktgAunzers @ReadTheSyllabus Completely agree. But often in my research on student experience the classroom is periphery to students because they find them boring, didactic and very little participation opportunities except maybe ask or respond to a Q

@ReadTheSyllabus Switch emphasis in grading on attendance and you see more participative classes and excellent learning experience. Shouldn’t the classroom be at the centre of the education, not on the peripheral?

If your university has not yet given you full access to @timeshighered with an institution-wide subscription, get in touch: mailto:membership@timeshighereducation.com

Love this initiative and thanks to a @MiddlesexUni institutional subscription now have full access to THE, which had become too expensive for me. Hurray! Minority scientists to mentor senior professors in equality drive timeshighereducation.com/news/minority-… via @timeshighered #cygna_london

Is it normal to have a to-do list on which the items vary in scale from 'email R about event' to 'Do PhD'?

@vickimmadden This is my second year and I already feel it’s my 19th... Reminds me of Beijing but with less selfies with strangers and a little more space between people - but not by much!

I completely agree. We need accessible resources for teachers so they can easily find useful technology that suits them and their students. That's where Academic Development Departments can come in. @DamianHinds @educationgovuk

@itsashleydee Amazing!! I’m finding it fantastic, plus really good for #remoteretreat as you can add multiple entries per day, so tracking your progress. 310 words is great, better than 0, keep it up!

It's break time on #remoteretreat and I've written 310 words - it's not a great big number, but they're really good words. I'm using this break to make tea and look into the Word Keeper app @Rebecca_MaxSt suggested the other day!
