I updated my dynasty WR rankings on RP today. The player I'm most ahead of the market on is a sub-6'0 180-pound Day 3 rookie. People are saying I may have fallen for it again.

I have been and still am concerned that we saw clear signs of decline in AJ Brown's game on film last year. However, there are two ways that concern could be unfounded, or at least less important, for this coming season. 1) He was playing hurt before the bye. There are dramatic splits in his #ReceptionPerception success rates between his games sampled pre and post-Week 9. The post rates are still lower than his elite standards but are generally good. All that is outlined in the profile. 2) He isn't the full-time X-receiver for the 2026 Patriots. Given that guys like Doubs, Boutte and Williams are all currently on the roster and all played as X-receivers in 2025, I don't see why this can't be the case. Brown has played as a primary Z who dabbled with more slot work in several NFL seasons, including both of his first two years with the Eagles (Smith was the X) and his final year with Vrabel in Tennessee. We have seen role changes like this help receivers as they age, including New England's leading receiver in 2025. If it's not Brown, I'll be fascinated to see who the movement Z/slot options are. Critical to read reports on this WR's pre-snap deployment in training camp. Alignment data from my RP site, and a route tree from an X vs. Z-heavy season here.
