We are excited to have our new PAC trailer arrive from @AgResearch NZ, which will be integral to help us breed sheep with a lower Carbon Footprint. The unit will be busy with 13,500 animals scheduled to be measured over the next 3 years as part of the ‘Breed for CH4nge’ project.

250 shearling ewes from eight different breeders in our group have now traveled to Ian Robertson’s for RamCompare to collect important maternal trait measurements. We are very excited to follow the progress of this project!

At our latest meeting we also heard updates from Sam Boon on maternal evaluations, from Ian Robertson on the Lleyn yearlings on RamCompare, from George Cullimore on serum IgA testing this autumn and from Kate Phillips on future research plans. Thank you all for speaking!

Our autumn meeting was held at Wallace McCurdies farm in Warwickshire. Fascinating to hear Wallace's life story and how he arrived at Bondon Farm, having been born on Cumbria. An excellent attendance and a thoroughly good day. Big thank you to Wallace and family for hosting.

Great to have a catch up with an interesting walk around Ian Robertson’s farm and a chance to discuss exciting upcoming PRLB projects. Thank you Ian and family for hosting!

An exciting project to discuss at the upcoming meeting is Ian Robertson’s plan to put 25-30 shearling ewes from different PRLB flocks into the RamCompare project.

We are looking forward to our next PRLB meeting at the end of the month where we will be visiting RAPPA and Ian Robertson’s in Hampshire. Ian runs a large flock of Lleyns and also keeps deer and has a glamping business.

We met again in October at Worcester market to swap or sell ram lambs and to have an update from Ed Brant of Signet on progress and development of an EBV for serum IgA.

Just and update on PRLB activity in 2021. Great meeting at Trevor and Chere Border’s in Rutland in June to see their flock of outdoor lambing ewes, followed by a visit to Gareth Owen in Leicestershire to see Lleyn cross Aberfield ewes.
