@RobbGravett morning rob, What are you up to today, Are you at oulton with the lad, Regards ste.

@RobbGravett For those tracks where you can still get close to the action - street circuits, old school tracks - sounds creates an indelible impression. I still recall standing by the track in Adelaide for the F1 and feeling the V12s out when they went past.
English

I know electric cars are apparently the future and having driven some of the new electric cars they are impressive however I do hope that the lack of engine noise and flaming exhausts on the down change don't either damage or destroy the excitement of racing .What do we think?.RG

WTCR boss Ribeiro says fans of combustion engine motorsport should brace themselves for a "brutal, violent" few years. "There will be decisions which will be so hard, so difficult, in every category of motorsport. Rallying, F1, touring cars, GT." motorsport.com/wtcr/news/comb…

@RobbGravett Most modern tracks you are so far away from the action you almost need a telescope to see so sound is the medium to convey the speed and energy... /3
English

@RobbGravett I think it will have a limited effect on races on TV. As it is, TV is generally a poor medium for conveying the sound and speed of racing. But I think it will have a huge effect on live motorsport. ../e

@petrolhedonist @CamsCorner On the contrary, I think only if you did offend would you get an invite to Wakefield on a hot smokey day with a lot of flies to watch Cam bed brakes!

@RobbGravett And while I am all for driving defensively, there are limits to what you can do on a busy motorway to keep out of harms way, particularly from the scourge of modern driving - drivers distracted by mobile devices who behave anything other than predictably.
English

I understand all of this which is fine until something untoward happens like a puncture or car failure. Every driver needs somewhere safe to stop .to call a recovery vehicle or maybe change a wheel..if the smart motorway doesn't have anywhere to do this it's potentially lethal
David King@king_driving
@RobbGravett Look after your car to reduce breakdowns, leave plenty of space and time to reduce collision risks, always have an escape route. You will never drive the same way again once you see the benefits.
English

@RobbGravett And all the maintenance in the world won't stop you from a puncture from a nail or other object you can't see on the motorway. Until every car has run flats, people will still get flat tyres on a motorway..../4
English

@RobbGravett Breakdowns will still occur. In this brave new world of electrification and semi-autonomous driving and beta-testing software on the pubic I would be bold enough to suggest breakdowns might actually increase .../3
English

@RobbGravett "Look after your car" and you will avoid breakdowns? Seriously? Some, yes, in older vehicles. But even in new cars defects still slip through the quality control net that "maintenance" (ie being plugged into the OBD computer by the dealer) won't detect. .../2
