The message doesn't land.
Trey created a story where a beautiful, fun place is turned into an overcrowded shithole filled with people they portray as filthy—so filthy, in fact, that they end up causing a cataclysm that even kills one of the kids.
But Cartman is supposed to be “in the wrong” because he makes racist comments and talks in a funny way. He is in the wrong because the story tells you he is, not because the events prove it.
Conservatives who love South Park are stupid, but when Trey wrote this episode, he was so oblivious that the portrayal completely defeats the point of the episode. It's bad writing.
