Today, May 8th is the anniversary of Henry Dunant’s birth, marks World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day. On this day humanitarian principles are celebrated, along with the commitment of millions of volunteers and humanitarian workers around the world.

For 145 years, Red Cross nurses have followed in the footsteps of Clara Barton and helped bring our mission to life. It’s National Nurses Week — a time to recognize the incredible nurses who go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver compassionate support to those we serve.

Every $135 donation is used to provide cleanup kits for 5 families after a disaster. Each kit comes with a sectional handle with mop, broom, squeegee, and push broom heads, pail, scrub brush, sponge, disinfectant, detergent/degreaser, bleach, trash bags, gloves, and dust mask.

In March, West Virginia University LGBTQ+ Center, in partnership with the Red Cross Club, held a Pride Blood Drive on the Morgantown campus with more than 100 donors registered & 85 units of blood collected. This is the largest Pride Blood Drive held to date in the country!
