SAMSUNG Q2 OPERATING PROFIT JUMPS 19-FOLD TO A RECORD ON AI CHIP DEMAND Samsung Electronics reported Q2 operating profit of 89.5T won, up from 4.68T won a year ago, while revenue rose 130% to 171.5T won. Samsung expects strong H2 memory demand, led by continued AI infrastructure spending and broader agentic AI adoption, to keep the market undersupplied despite softer mobile and PC demand.

DOORDASH BUILDS OWN DELIVERY DRONES AFTER FAA APPROVAL $DASH secured Part 135 air-carrier certification, permitting commercial deliveries beyond visual line of sight. The company plans to launch this fall and target 3-5 mile orders. DoorDash says those trips represent over 20% of volume and take nearly 25% longer than shorter deliveries. DoorDash will keep partners including Wing and Flytrex, and expects humans to complete the “vast majority” of orders.

US SENATORS WARN APPLE AGAINST CHINESE MEMORY CHIP DEALS Lawmakers led by Jim Banks and Chuck Schumer urged $AAPL to abandon talks with CXMT and YMTC, even for devices sold only in China. Both chipmakers are on a Pentagon list of Chinese military companies; YMTC is also on the Commerce Department’s Entity List. Senators warned that Apple qualification could enable wider use later. They asked Apple to commit by Aug. 21 not to use the chips and disclose any technical information shared. The talks come amid a global memory shortage.
